PMO Surigao advocates on zero plastic policy

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- In a concerted effort to combat plastic pollution and promote environmental sustainability, the Port Management Office (PMO) of Surigao organized an advocacy seminar on Zero Plastic Policy within the port, dubbed as "The Persistent Global Pandemic - Plastic Pollution," on June 5, 2023, in line with the observance of the World Environment Day, at the PMO Surigao Conference Room, Administration Building, Port of Surigao, Surigao City.

The seminar was attended by diverse group of participants, including organic, outsourced, and security personnel of PMO Surigao.

The event raised awareness on the detrimental effects of plastic pollution in the environment and encouraged the stakeholders to adopt sustainable practices within the port.

World Environment Day, which is observed every fifth day of June, holds significant importance in global environmental efforts. The late President Ferdinand S. Marcos Sr. declared this day as World Environment Day through Proclamation No. 1149 s.1973. Governments worldwide, under the auspices of the United Nations, utilize this occasion to undertake activities that reaffirm their commitment.

By organizing this insightful seminar on World Environment Day, PMO Surigao has taken a significant step in promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness on the urgent need to combat plastic pollution. (PPA-PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
