PMO Surigao leads in the clean up of harbor waters, city streets

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao City, Surigao del Norte -- Some volunteers from the Surigao Port Community led by the Port Management Office of Surigao recently cleaned up the Port of Surigao’s harbor waters as well as the sidewalks of city streets.

Armed with brooms, dustpans and other cleaning implements, volunteers made up of barangay

officials, navy reservists, porters, maritime college students and Philippine Ports Authority employees went to the shoreline of the Port of Surigao, scooped up and collected sacks of solid wastes and other debris off the Port of Surigao’s harbor waters and swept the sidewalks of streets in the city’s port area.

The clean up drive also included  lectures and information campaigns to raise awareness on the importance of RA 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, Earth Day and Climate Change.

The noble activity is regularly conducted by the PMO Surigao every quarter as part of its Clean up Drive program. (PPA- PMO Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
