DOST seeks DepEd support on PRISM in SDN
SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -- The Department of Science and Technology Surigao del Norte Provincial Director Mariel P. Makinano recently paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Lorenzo O. Macasocol, the newly appointed Schools Division Superintendent of DepEd - Surigao del Norte Division.
During the meeting, Director Makinano sought the superintendent's support for the operationalization of the Provincial Research, Innovation, and Science Museum (PRISM) in Surigao del Norte, where DepEd is one of the members of its Board of Directors (BOD). She presented the PRISM, highlighting the Science and Technology interventions available in the facility with the integration of an innovation and makerspace, a 21st century model classroom, and an interactive gallery of science learning exhibits.
The PRISM is geared towards product innovation and development for commercialization while adopting a focus on prototyping new product ideas, improvement of existing innovations that are uniquely Caraganon, and development of technology-oriented services.
The said visit was joined by Mary Grace M. Sabuero, science research specialist II of DOST-Surigao del Norte and Arturo M. Cruje of the provincial local school board and consultant of the Provincial Government Office-Education, Culture, and the Arts. They further discussed the CY 2023 proposed plans and activities concerning the PRISM’s operationalization, future partnerships, and potential areas for collaboration.
The PRISM is a collaborative project of DOST-Caraga, Provincial Government of Surigao del Norte, and the Department of Education which aims to promote and develop a vibrant science, technology and Innovation (STI) ecosystem in the region. (DOST- SDN/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
