FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Authorities arrest high-ranking CTG members in Agusan Norte

CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte -- High-ranking members of the communist-terrorists group (CTG) were arrested by the combined elements of the 29th Infantry (Matatag) Battalion and Cabadbaran City Police Station at the vicinity of Purok 2, Brgy Kauswagan, Cabadbaran City on March 11, 2023.

In a statement, Lt . Col. Cresencio Gargar, commanding officer of 29IB conveyed that that the law enforcement operation served the warrant for charges of multiple attempted homicides and attempted murder for the apprehended Gabriel Rebucas Sagay, alias Roxan/Onemig and Regie Amora Ligan alias Kylie/Kyle/Kihod, a members of Sandatahang Yunit Pampropaganda 21C, Guerilla Front 21, Northeastern Mindanao Regional Committee (SYP21C, GF21, NEMRC).

Before the apprehension, the unit received several reports from concerned and anxious civilians regarding the presence of the CTGs roaming around their barangay. 

Recovered items were one (1) unit of 0.45mm caliber rock island with live ammunition, one (1) unit of .9mm caliber Tauros with chamber load live ammunition, a blasting cap with detonating cord, five (5) pieces of elongated heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance suspected as Shabu, three (3) disposable lighter and cash amounting to one thousand pesos.

Gargar lauded the (Matatag) troop's dedication and resiliency that resulted a successful operation in apprehending the high-ranking members of the CTG.

"Those apprehended personalities have hampered the development of Agusan del Norte due to their terroristic activities. This accomplishment is a result of the joint efforts of the troops and intensified intelligence operations.
