By Nida Grace P. Barcena

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- Today's International Women's Day celebration, March 8, 2023, which is in line with the 2023 Women's Month, the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur headed by Governor Alexander T. Pimentel through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) led the kick off  celebrations joined by some of the national line agencies and provincial government employees in Surigao del Sur.

Today's activities started with a motorcade and an opening program held at the Provincial Capitol Lobby in Tandag City.

In the joint celebration, Governor Alexander T. Pimentel, ably represented by Provincial Administrator Esmeraldo Raymundo, delivered an inspirational message highlighting the women's important role and fruitful contributions to nation building.

He cited that women's empowerment with equal rights bridges between access to opportunities and resources and the right to control their own lives, both within and outside the home; and their ability to influence the direction of social change to create a more just social and economic order.

Raymundo also assured everyone that the provincial government will continue to implement and support programs and policies aimed at promoting gender and development in an effort to strengthen the Magna Carta of Women.

Meanwhile, part of the month-long activities are the Health and Wellness Activity on March 15, and the Provincial Women Congress set on March 28 according to PSWDO chief Hershey NuΓ±ez. (PIA-Surigao del Sur)
