Sen. Imee Marcos to distribute financial assistance to AgNor PWDs, vulnerable women

 

BUTUAN CITY --  In line with the celebration of the 2023 National Women's Month in the province of Agusan del Norte, Senator Imee Marcos has committed to distribute financial assistance to persons with disabilities (PWDs) and other vulnerable women in the province through the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program on Wednesday, March 29 at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court in Butuan City.

 

The senator has allotted P5 million for five identified local government units (LGUs) and the beneficiaries will receive P3,000 each. These LGUs include Remedios T. Romualdez with 78 beneficiaries; Jabonga with 107;  Buenavista with 510; Las Nieves with 221; and Cabadbaran City with 449 beneficiaries. The beneficiaries will receive their financial assistance from the Senator on Wednesday morning.


Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) chief, Dr. Silver Joy Tejano said that more than one thousand women were initally identified by their respective LGUs, and they will all receive the financial assistance. Other LGUs are expected to submit the number and list of their  qualified beneficiaries before Wednesday for the payroll preparation.


On top of the five LGU-beneficiaries,  another 1,000 vulnerable and PWD women  from the municipality of Nasipit, Agusan del Norte are scheduled to receive financial assistance under the AICS program in the afternoon of March 29 at the municipal gymnasium.  LGU-Nasipit was given another budget of P5 million from Senator Marcos for this activity.
