DTI ADN inks MOA with GATI, shipping line operators to raise consumer awareness

BUTUAN CITY -- In collaboration and strong support of the Port Management Office of the Philippine Ports Authority led by Port Manager Mildred J. Padilla, the Department of Trade and Industry Agusan del Norte (DTI ADN) together with the private business organizations, Globalport Agusan Terminal Inc. (GATI) and shipping line operators, namely: Cokaliong Shipping Lines Inc., Starlite Shipping, Lite Ferries and 2 Go Shipping, inked the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) broadening consumer awareness through the provision of consumer care videos. The video materials will be shown at the passenger’s pre-departure area as well as on the monitors inside the shipping vessels. It can be recalled that last March 3, 2023, DTI ADN represented by CTIDS Arcily C. Gonzaga and STIDS Maribeth V. Estacion met and discussed with partner business organizations the MOA.

On Thursday, the partnership was officially sealed with the signing of the MOA. The signing took place during the 1st Quarter meeting joint Port Management Advisory Council (PMAC) and Port Facility and Security Advisory Committee (PFSAC) meetings at the PPA Multi-Purpose Hall, Nasipit, Agusan del Norte.

The MOA establishes a partnership among private business organizations to foster consumer-related advocacy campaigns and information, eventually raising awareness among ship passengers-consumers. During the MOA signing, DTI handed over flash drives containing various consumer care videos on online shopping tips, consumer rights, and responsibilities, and No Return, No Exchange, among others to the partner business organizations. The target audience for these consumer care videos are inbound and outbound passengers-consumers coming to and from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Before the signing, DTI Agusan del Norte Provincial Director Lorijane D. Sacote gave a short rationale and the benefits of the MOA to the attendees. PD Sacote remarked, “Consumers will have sound choices from the information gained from the consumer care videos ”.

DTI intends to seal more partnerships to launch similar undertakings with other private organizations, business entities, and schools to widen reach, ultimately benefiting more consumers. (DTI Agusan del Norte/PIA Agusan del Norte)
