DTI AgNor spearheads skills enhancement training

BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Agusan del Norte through its Shared Service Facility program, and in partnership with the Local Government Unit  of Carmen, Agusan del Norrte through its Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) recently conducted a skills enhancement training for San Agustin Fisherfolk Association and Gosoon Fisherfolk Association at Brgy. San Agustin, Carmen, Agusan del Norte.

The training is a continuation of the collaborative efforts of the agency and the LGU to create jobs for men and women, boost value-added initiatives, and ultimately contribute to the community's development.

It aims to provide participants with enhanced skills in milkfish “Bangus” deboning as well as aptitude in understanding and adhering to current good manufacturing practices, proper food preparation, proper fish handling, and skill in developing and implementing corrective actions to reduce the risk of producing low-quality products.

Being one of the most popularly cultured fishes in the country, Bangus can be raised through brackish water, marine, and freshwater culture environments. Deboned Bangus can be bought for P320.00 per kg, as opposed to fresh bangus, which costs between P150 and P180 per kilo.

With sustained capacity building, DTI is committed  to assist MSMEs in providing locally produced and processed quality food. (DTI Agusan del Norte/PIA Agusan del Norte)
