Evacuation centers at pag-capacitate ng mga barangay officials, prayoridad sa Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte

LUNGSOD NG BUTUAN -- Karamihan sa nasasakupang barangay sa lungsod ng Las Nieves, Agusan del Norte ay madaling bahain lalo at malapit ito sa Agusan river. Kaya naman, binigyang prayoridad sa lungsod ang pagkakaroon ng evacuation centers para sa mga residenteng madalas na binabaha.

Sa ngayon, ayon kay Las Nieves mayor Karen Rosales, may labing-isang evacuation centers na ang lungsod, kasama na dito ang nagkakahalang 36 milyong pesong standard evacuation center na matatagpuam sa barangay San Isidro na natapos sa tulong ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at pwede itong makapag-accommodate ng mahigit limang daang katao o evacuees.

Kompleto ang nasabing evacuation center, may sariling admin building, person with disability (PWD) friendly, may mga pasilidad na kakailanganin ng mga evacuees at siguradong marami ang pwedeng matulongan sa panahon ng baha o kalamidad. 

Dagdag pa ni mayor Rosales, hindi na rin problema ang pag-convince sa mga tao upang lumikas dahil siguradong mayroon na silang temporaryong matitirahan.

Patuloy din ang pag-capacitate ng Municipal Disater Risk Reduction and Management (MDRRM) Council sa mga nasasakupan nito sa pangunguna ng kanilang MDRRMO chief na si Jover Manliguez.

Tiniyak din ni DPWH Caraga regional director Engr. Pol de los Santos na handa silang tumulong sa pag-construct ng mga evacuation centers, kailangan lang na naaayon sa standard at alituntunin ng ahensya.

Sa ngayon, may anim ng evacuation centers ang natapos ng DPWH sa probinsya ng Agusan del Norte, ito ay nasa Buenavista, Nasipit, Santiago, RTR, Kitcharao at ang nasa Las Nieves. (NCLM/PIA Agusan del Norte)
