PMO SURIGAO Joins the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill 2022

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte -In support of the government’s initiative on disaster preparedness, the Port Management Office (PMO) of Surigao participated in the 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED).

Personnel from ports under the PMO’s jurisdiction such as the Port of Surigao (Baseport), as well as those from the Terminal Management Offices (TMOs) of Dapa, Tandag, Dinagat, and Lipata as well as clients transacting business and COA staff, actively joined other agencies and offices nationwide in the online disaster preparedness exercise spearheaded by the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC).

PMO Surigao’s Acting Port Manager, Froilan Caturla, led the execution of the basic “duck, cover, and hold” technique and urged everyone to strictly observe minimum health standards such as wearing masks and physical distancing.

The 4th Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill simulation exercise also highlights the call for tsunami awareness and preparedness as part of the World Tsunami Awareness observance. (PPA-PMO, Surigao/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
