29IB discovers RPG, bomb paraphernalias in AgNor
CABADBARAN CITY, Agusan del Norte -- The 29th Infantry (Matatag) Battalion successfully discovered New Peoples Army (NPA) Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) with three (3) live high explosive (HE) ammunition and bomb paraphernalia on September 30, 2022 at the hinterlands of Brgy Cuyago, Santiago, Agusan del Norte when troops received information from small scale miners in the area.
It can be recalled that on September 14, 2022, The troops of 29IB encountered the Communists Terrorists Group (CTG) in the said area and later found the cadaver of Rolando Rubilla ’Edroy’ Leyson Jr, Secretary of Guerilla Front 16 of the North Eastern Mindanao Regional Committee (NEMRC) thru the relentless Focused Military Operation being conducted by the Philippine Army Unit in the area.
The 29th Infantry (Matatag) Battalion condemns the CTGs continued use of improvised explosive devices (IED) functioning as landmines due to the inherent humanitarian threats they pose to civilians and communities.
