It is almost stationary. Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Visayas and Mindanao. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. 16 CSU OJT completed 240 hrs at DENR, CENRO-Bislig

BISLIG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- The City Environment and Natural Resources Office in Bislig City hosted a Culmination Activity for the On-The-Job Training students from Caraga State University (CSU) last September 3, 2022, held at the DENR-CENRO Bislig Conference Room, Mangagoy, Bislig City.

The 16 students taking up the Bachelor of Science in Forestry completed the two hundred forty hours (240) of OJT, under the supervision of Forester-I Arnel P. Masancay, MMFN Nursery Head.

During their OJT, students experienced and conducted the activities of Nursery Operations such as Seedling production, Potting Media Preparation, Sorting and Grading, and Wildings Collection.

Other activities are Timber Inventory, Log Scaling, NGP Validation, Dendrology, Lawin Patrolling, Bird Watching, and Tree Planting.

Inlcuded in  their field exposure were site and company visits to My Plywood Sustainable Resources Corporation and observed how plywood is being produced, using Falcata logs and at ERDB- MFTSC (Mindanao Forest Tree Seed Center) seed Storage and Wood Science Laboratory.

They were also trained on the Basic Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping and Drone Operation.

Meanwhile, the students also participated in the  Information and Education Campaign on ENR Laws, Rules, Regulations, Projects, and Programs of the DENR. (DENR, CENRO-Bislig/PIA Surigao del Sur)
