NAPOLCOM-13 gears up IEC campaign for 2022 NCPW

BUTUAN CITY -- The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) Regional Office 13 is gearing up its information, education, and communication (IEC) campaign in line with the observance of the National Crime Prevention Week (NCPW) on September 1 to 7, 2022.

Public Information Officer-designate Rina Andrea L. Calo on Thursday said that the activities lined up by NAPOLCOM-13 for this year’s NCPW is geared towards discussing crimes that have proliferated since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“In the past years, NAPOLCOM, in celebration of NCPW,  focused on activities concerning COVID-19. Many crimes have risen since the pandemic such as rape, wherein this crime has continued to rise this year. NAPOLCOM and PNP have seen the increase of crime rates so now, we will be holding activities to tackle these crimes to help prevent their occurrence,” she said.

Calo added that NAPOLCOM Central Office has also taken charge of hosting webinars online that will be participated by target sectors.

NAPOLCOM-13 partnered with the Butuan City Police Office (BPCO) and barangay local government units in Butuan City to conduct community services on September 2. On the same day, a webinar on Cybercrime will be hosted by the NAPOLCOM Central Office via Zoom.

A webinar entitled “Prosecution and Courts” will also be hosted by the Central Office on September 5.

NAPOLCOM-13 plans on establishing the Student Crime Prevention Committee, which they will be presenting to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Caraga on September 6.

Three webinar episodes will be aired on September 7 by NAPOLCOM Central Office that will tackle sexual abuse and exploitation, correction services, and the best community-based crime prevention initiatives.

Calo also shared that its Central Office will be recognizing local police stations and other units of the Philippine National Police (PNP) that have implemented best practices on Community and Service-Oriented (CSOP) System and crime prevention initiatives in time with the Commission’s anniversary on September 8.
