DOH merits SurSur Province, 3 LGUs during Race to End TB Awards at National Level

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur received three (3) awards at the National level for the “Race to End Tuberculosis  Awards” conducted virtually, August 31, 2022, in time of the National Lung Month culmination.

The awards given are:

- Silver Award for Population Testing rate for 1st Quarter CY 2022

- Gold Award for Drug Resistant TB Treatment Success Rate for 2nd Quarter CY 2022

- Gold Award for TB preventive Coverage for 1st and 2nd Quarter CY2022 Quarter.

 

The other three local government units (LGUs) from the province of Surigao del Sur also received national awards, the two-component cities of Bislig and Tandag, and the municipality of Barobo.

 

The City of Tandag got the Gold Award for DRTB Treatment Success rate for the 2nd Quarter CY 2022.

 

For the City of Bislig, they bagged the Gold and Bronze awards.

-Bronze award TB Preventive Treatment Coverage 1st and 2nd CY 2022 

 

The municipality of Barobo  grabbed the -Silver Award for Bacteriology Confirmed TB treatment Enrolment.

 

The Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur headed by Governor Alexander Pimentel, was ably represented by Vice Governor Manuel Alameda to deliver a message during the event. Vice Gov. Alameda said, "We are indeed happy to know that our beloved province of Surigao del Sur garnered the provincial Gold Award for the Tuberculosis Preventive Treatment Category, for both 1st and 2nd Quarter Category for the calendar year 2022."

 

According to Alameda, they are duty bound to recognize the bigger responsibility of accomplishing more towards a long-term goal to end Tuberculosis in the country.

 

"As Vice Governor of Surigao del Sur, I am reiterating my support to push forward Tuberculosis programs, projects, and activities, especially its integration to universal health care," Vice Governor Alameda noted.

 

Meanwhile, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) revealed two awards were given to the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur for its performance in the implementation of the Tuberculosis Program at the Regional Level:

- Gold Award for Population Testing rate for 1st Quarter CY 2022, and

- Gold Award for BCTB Treatment Enrolment 1st Quarter CY 2022.
