Fish vendor in Siargao arrested in joint PDEA-PNP buy-bust operation
BUTUAN CITY -- The continuous crackdown on illegal drugs across the region resulted in the confiscation of Php343,600 worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or “shabu” in a joint buy-bust operation of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency -13 (PDEA-13) and Police Regional Office-13 (PRO-13) at around 6:20 PM on August 11, 2022.
The region’s top cop, Police Brigadier General (PBGen) Romeo M. Caramat, Jr., lauded the troops of PDEA-13, Dapa Municipal Police Station, and the Drug Enforcement Unit of Surigao del Norte Police Provincial Office (SDNPPO) for the arrest of Ricky C. Gerarcas, 46 years old, resident of Barangay 13, Poblacion, Dapa.
During the operation, government troops confiscated six sachets of suspected “shabu” weighing 52 grams with a standard drug price of Php343,600, 20 pieces of Php1,000 bills as marked money, a cell phone, and a Yamaha motorcycle.
“This another major accomplishment is clear proof of the relentless fight of Caraga cops against illegal drug personalities in the region. The public is encouraged to continue to support the efforts of the authorities to rid the region of the influence of illegal drugs,” said PRO-13’s regional director.
