Prior to the incident, the government troops were alerted by the report from concerned citizen/s regarding  the presence of CNTs in the area.

“An unfortunate event resulted in the death of another CTG member. As much as possible, we would like them to surrender so that they will have a chance to change their lives with their loved ones by returning to the folds of law and avail of the E-CLIP,” Lt. Col. Buyuccan said.

The official also called on the remaining CTG members to surrender. “To the remaining CTG members in Surigao del Sur, heed our call, surrender peacefully, and avail of the E-CLIP of the government. We will help you with open arms, and together we will end this nonsense conflict and achieve long-lasting peace,” Lt. Col. Buyuccan noted. (NGPB/Lt. Jezreel Bajar, 75IB CMO/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
