PDEA leads destruction of dangerous drugs, paraphernalia

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY -- Through the intensified campaign of the government against illegal drugs, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Caraga along with the different sectors  from the government led the destruction of different confiscated dangerous drugs and paraphernalia worth P7.8 million.

These illegal drugs were properly disposed through incineration in a facility of a plywood corporation in Butuan City.

The PDEA chemists conducted thermolysis prior to the destruction of the illegal drugs.

According to PDEA Caraga regional director Emerson Rosales, the destruction and burning of the illegal drugs such as shabu, marijuana, and paraphernalia is in accordance with Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 1 series of 2002.

“We assure you that all the confiscated illegal drugs and paraphernalia are all accounted for and will never be recycled. The agency along with other law enforcement agencies is serious in putting a stop to this menace,” said Rosales.

Director Rosales further stressed that PDEA continues to monitor the barangays and intensifies its advocacy campaign to put a stop to any illegal drug operation, as well as to protect the well-being of the populace, especially the youth who are mostly affected by these illegal drugs.

“For our local constituents, please help us in our campaign and should you have knowledge on any illegal drug operation in your respective barangay, let us know and we will give appropriate action,” added Rosales. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)
