Case filed vs suspect of Surigao del Norte shooting incident

BUTUAN CITY -- A case has now been filed by the Police Regional Office (PRO) 13 against the suspect responsible for the shooting incident in Alegria, Surigao del Norte.

PRO 13 Director PBGen. Romeo M. Caramat, Jr. disclosed that a murder case under Article 248 of the Revised Penal Code with docket number XIII-06-INV-22E-104 has been filed against alias "Jun", an active member of the Philippine Army and a resident of Brgy. Jaliobong, Kitcharao, Agusan del Norte.

Citing the report from Alegria Municipal Police Station, "Jun" was identified by witnesses as the suspect in a shooting incident that transpired on May 22, 2022 that killed Kenneth Lubina Ugay, 24 years old, in his residence in Purok-1, Poblacion, Alegria, Surigao del Norte.

Further investigation revealed that the shooting was instigated by the victim's relationship with the suspect's wife despite being separated for almost two years.

"We are happy with this recent development in our investigation. Our police officers are conducting constant monitoring on the suspect's whereabouts pending the release of the warrant of arrest," said Dir. Caramat, Jr.

"Our police is conducting a continuous investigation to provide solid evidence to file a case against the suspect. Rest assured that we will remain restless until we complete the documents needed to file a case against the suspect," Caraga's top cop added.
