FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

Army reserve force collaborates with PIA Caraga for basic news writing workshop

BUTUAN CITY -- Thirty personnel from the 15th Regional Community Defense Group (15RCDG) have attended the training on Basic News and Feature Writing with a resource speaker from the Philippine Information Agency (Caraga) held on Tuesday at the Camp Romualdo Rubi, Bancasi, this City.

Jennifer Peña-Gaitano, information center manager of PIA-Agusan del Sur, shared the tips on how to better write a news story.  

The lecture was participated by the different personnel from various Community Defense Center (CDC) of Caraga Region, namely, 1501st CDC, 1502nd CDC, 1503th CDC, 1504th CDC with the presence of Lieutenant Colonel Roy Curilan, executive officer of 15RCDG.

During the first part of the said learning session, the personnel learned the forms of journalism, kinds of news, accuracy of general information, fake news, elements of news, basic pattern in news writing, parts and structures of news story, and the proper writing of headline, lead, and support lead.

The aforementioned topics and guidelines were put into practice as the personnel composed their own news articles during the afternoon session.

The acquired knowledge from the said training is of great help for the 15RCDG personnel in effectively communicating the different activities of the organization through social media platforms. (1501st CDC/PIA-Caraga)
