DA recognizes women agripreneurs in Caraga

BUTUAN CITY -- As a way of honoring women farmer entrepreneurs in Caraga region, the Department of Agriculture (DA) together with the Robinsons Place Butuan opened the Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita Locally Sourced on March 22.

The 10-day fair seeks to give the farmer cooperatives and associations (FCA) and agripreneurs an avenue to sell their produce to a bigger market.

DA-Caraga Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division Chief Lynn Pareñas said that in observance of Women’s Month the trade fair also recognizes the efforts and contributions of rural women in the agriculture sector.

Entrepreneurship is the edge of rural women farmers as they manage to do the marketing and the processing of their produce. With this, a strategy in the OneDA Reform Agenda focuses on women’s engagement as they can be one of the key agents of change in agriculture, nutrition, and rural development.

“Get fresh and affordable local produce at Robinsons Place Butuan, South Atrium expansion mall open from 10am – 9pm,” said Pareñas.

Said activity forms part of the month-long activities for this year’s Women’s Month celebration. (DA-RFO XIII, RAFIS/PIA-Caraga)
