118 families affected by Tandag fire receive cash aid

TANDAG CITY, Surigao del Sur -- Some 118 families affected by the fire incident in Barangay Bongtud, Tandag City have received financial aid from the Provincial Government of Surigao del Sur and the City Government of Tandag on Monday, February 14.

Governor Alexander Pimentel led the distribution to the identified beneficiaries at the City Gymnasium in Tandag, where the affected families were temporarily sheltered.


Some 78 families whose houses were assessed as totally damaged in the incident received PhP20,000 each, while seven families whose houses were partially damaged received the PhP10,000 worth of the cash assistance from the provincial government. Other 33 families identified as sharers or renters also received PhP5,000.

In addition, the city government of Tandag has also given financial assistance to the same beneficiaries. Those with totally damaged houses each received PhP10,000 while those with partially damaged houses received PhP5,000. 

All affected families also received hygiene kits from the Department of Health (DOH) on the same day. (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
