BFAR Caraga collaborates for AHON aid
GENERAL
LUNA, Siargao Island – In bringing the Aid and Humanitarian Operations
Nationwide (AHON) Convergence Program to the island municipalities of Pilar and
General Luna, the Department of Agriculture (DA) has joined the event led by
Assistant Secretary for Agribusiness Kristine Y. Evangelista to advance the
purpose of the program.

Evangelista who was joined and assisted by OIC-Regional Director Nilo Selim
Katada of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Caraga, together
with Provincial Fishery Officer Felixberto Tanduyan and Fisheries Inspection
and Quarantine Service Chief Hanawi B. Alauya, took part in providing
assistance to the families that are greatly affected by the pandemic and the
small business owners in said municipalities.
For its
initial intervention, BFAR Caraga gave support amounting to P150,000 which
comprised the two units of patrol boats with complete accessories and three
units 7.5hp marine engine for Pilar, while one unit patrol boat with complete
accessories and one unit 8hp diesel marine engine for General Luna.
The patrol
boats are intended for the Bantay Dagat operations of the local government
units.
The AHON
convergence was led by the Office of the Special Assistant to the President, in
partnership with the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO),
Department of Health (DOH), Department of Social Welfare and Development
(DSWD), Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and the DA. (DA-BFAR
