The project was funded under the DA–Caraga’s High-Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP) through the Urban Agriculture Program under the Bayanihan to Recover as One Act (Bayanihan II).

The said facility is the first in Surigao del Sur established at the Organic Agri-Fishery Tourism Complex in Sian, Sta. Cruz, Bislig City, one of the five projects installed in the region.

According to DA-Caraga HVCDP Coordinator Marco Antonio Morido, the project is also in support of the Plant Plant Plant Program, a DA program in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also said the nursery which has a capacity of 50,000 seedlings will be very useful in the city government's initiative of distributing planting materials to households for them to plant in their backyards.

Mayor Garay, on the other hand, said they would provide support to ensure the sustainability of the project. The official hopes that the project’s use would be maximized and that it will contribute to the development of the agriculture sector in the city.

The facility features a Hydroponics System, an agriculture greenhouse, and a nursery with Automated Fertigation System. It has also a component of a season-long training that will run for 16 weeks. (DA/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
