DTI, THPAL conduct Cacao biz opportunity forum, production training in Surigao Norte town

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in partnership with the Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation has recently conducted the Cacao Business Opportunity Forum cum Production Training held at Taganito Cultural and Sports Center in Claver town, this province.

The activity aims to inform the farmers and growers about the profitability of cacao market and assess the kind of future interventions be made available to them once they start massive growing (tending/cultivating and inter-cropping) of their current farm. In this activtiy, they were able to converge the active cacao farmers/growers in the municipality with the assistance of the Taganito HPAL Nickel Corporation thru its Community Relations (COMREL) Department under the company's Social Development and Management Program (SDMP).

Cacao doctors, entrepreneur cacao growers, representatives from the Provincial and Municipal Agriculture Office, and members of the Provincial Cacao Council were present during the one-day activity. It was concluded with the actual cacao farm visitation owned by some of the participants.
