FORECAST: The Zamboanga Peninsula will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. These conditions may lead to possible flash floods or landslides, especially during moderate to occasionally heavy rainfall. The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also influenced by the Southwest Monsoon. Winds will be light to moderate from the southwest, with slight to moderate seas (wave height between 0.6 to 2.1 meters).

DTI Surigao Norte turns over safety seal to business establishments in Siargao Island

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Surigao del Norte provincial office has granted the Safety Seal to business establishments (BEs) in Siargao Island through its ceremonial turnover on July 23, 2021.

The grantees of the safety seal were the same BEs that participated in the Safety Seal Orientation conducted by the DTI through the Consumer Protection Unit on July 9, 2021 in Siargao Island particularly from the Municipalities of Dapa, Del Carmen and General Luna.

The grantees were DT General Merchandise, TAJ General Merchandise, Ashley Beauty Salon, OK SAB Convenience Store, Dapa, EM-EM Enterprises, Twin Barbers Shop, Savers Plus General Merchandise and RNJEKA Corporation.

The DTI issues safety seals to selected establishments such as groceries, supermarkets, membership shopping clubs, convenience stores, construction supply/ hardware stores, logistics service outlets, barbershops and salons, service and repair shops.

DTI Surigao del Norte also enjoins the abovementioned establishments to check their eligibility against the compliance checklist and apply for Safety Seal Certification.

The Safety Seal Certification Program aims to assure the consumers and the public in general of the establishment’s compliance with the minimum public health standards set by the government, encourage the adoption of the StaySafe.ph digital contact tracing application to strengthen the contact tracing initiative of the government and effectively contain the spread of COVID-19 and safely open the economy.
