AgSur stakeholders join 1st Southeast Asia Rubber-Based Cropping Production Forum

BUTUAN CITY -- Rubber farmers, researchers, students, and other rubber industry stakeholders from all over Southeast Asia converge recently for the 1st Southeast Asia Rubber Based Cropping Production Forum via Zoom platform.

The forum was hosted by the province of Agusan del Sur in coordination with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).

Said forum was anchored on the theme "Sustainable Rubber-based Farming Systems in Southeast Asia: Challenges and Opportunities for Research, Development and Extension for Empowering Small-hold Farmers."

Keynote Speaker Department of Agriculture Secretary William D. Dar said that the Philippine Rubber Industry has massive potential for growth and its development is among the most far-reaching investments the Philippine Government can make in the bid to promote equitable prosperity across the islands.

The forum served as an avenue for rubber industry stakeholders to learn and also to share technologies on rubber production. Currently, there are 700 attendees to the forum. (DA-RFO XIII, RAFIS/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
