Caraga fisherfolks get environment-friendly fishing paraphernalia

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 4 (PIA) - Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary William Sar led in the distribution of
the different environment-friendly fishing gears and paraphernalia to the
different farmer and fisherfolk cooperatives of Caraga region.
Secretary Dar believed that the
assistance given to the cooperatives will help improve and alleviate the living
condition of every member.
“It is high time that the farmers
and fisherfolks be empowered to become strong partners in big businesses and to
improve their income and productivity,” said Dar.
Aside from the fishing gears and
paraphernalia, eight hauling trucks were also distributed to farmers
cooperatives amounting to P10.9 million.
Vivian Cerilles, one of the
organizers of San Roque Punta fisherfolks and livelihood association of the
Municipality of Nasipit in Agusan del Norte expressed her gratitude to the
government through the Department of Agriculture. She said these are of great
help to the members of the cooperative. Her organization has already received
fingerlings and livestocks.
Also, Mesail Molina of Kilometer
Seven Farmers Producers Cooperative was thankful to the government for the
hauling truck given to them. He said the truck is of big help to the
cooperative because they will no longer rent a vehicle to deliver their produce
like coffee to the market.
Secretary Dar also led the
fingerlings dispersal and met with the local farmers and fisherfolks.
The DA's total support given to
the farmer and fisherfolk cooperatives in the region has reached more than P50

-- Sa pagbisita ni Secretary William Dar ng Department of Agriculture (DA) dito
sa lungsod, pinangunahan nito ang pagbigay ng mga kagamitang
environment-friendly fishing gears at paraphernalia sa iba’t ibang kooperatiba
ng mga magsasaka at mangingisda ng rehiyon.
Naniniwala si Secretary Dar na ang
mga nasabing kagamitan ay makakatulong upang maiangat ang mga pamumuhay ng mga
magsasaka at mangingisda ng rehiyon.
Kabilang sa mga ipinamahagi ni
Secretary Dar sa mga kooperatiba ay ang walong hauling trucks na nagkakahalaga
ng 10.9 million pesos.
“Napakalaking tulong ang mga
ayudang bigay sa amin ng gobyerno, dahil dito kaming mga myembro ay nagkaroon
ng hanapbuhay,” pahayag ni Vivian Cerilles, isa sa mga organizers ng San Roque
Punta fisherfolks and livelihood association na kinabibilangan ng mahigit 45
miyembro ng Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, sila ay nakatanggap ng mga fingerlings
at livestocks.
Malaki din ang pasasalamat ni
Mesail Molina ng Kilometer Seven Farmers Producers Cooperative sa natanggap
nilang hauling trucks. Mayroon na silang pwedeng kargahan ng kanilang mga ani
at hindi na sila magrerenta pa ng sasakyan upang maibenta ang kanilang mga ani
at produkto kagaya ng kape.
Dahil sa tulong ng gobyerno sa
pamamagitan ng DA, nagkaroon din ng hauling truck ang Palasao Agriculture
Cooperative, malaking tulong ito sa aming rice processing center ito rin ang
pahayag ni Merly Azarcon, chairman ng nasabing kooperatiba.
Maliban sa pagbigay ng mga
kagamitan, nagsagawa din si Sec. Dar ng fingerlings dispersal at
nakipagdiyalogo sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda.
Aabot sa mahigit 50 million pesos
ang kabuuang halaga ang ipinamahagi ng kalihim sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda
