DSWD Caraga turns-over P8.8 million SLP funds to Siargao SEA-K associations

SURIGAO CITY, Apr. 5 (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga Region has recently turned-over around P8,850.000 million pesos to 55 SEA-K Associations (SKAs) in the five municipalities of Siargao Islands.

The five recipient municipalities that received the grants are the municipalities of Dapa with P1.9 million (12 SKAs); Del Carmen got P1.55 million with eight SKAs; General Luna got P900 thousand with five SKAs; Pilar P1.050,000 million with six SKAs; and Socorro P3.450,000 million with 24 SKAs.

According to DSWD Caraga Regional Director Minda B. Brigoli, the SEA-K (Self-Employment Assistance-Kaunlaran) Program is a livelihood and capability building program of DSWD aimed at enhancing the socio-economic skills of poor families towards establishing  and managing sustainable community-based credit organizations for entrepreneurial development.

“With the capital assistance, the SKAs member beneficiaries can now start their income-generating projects such as hog-raising and poultry, carenderia/eatery, sari-sari store, vulcanizing shop and other feasible microenterprises,” Brigoli said.

Brigolli also said that there are six types of microenterprises funded under SKAs wherein member beneficiaries can engage into, which include Trading: retailing and wholesaling of fish, rice, copra, gasoline, ready-to-wear (RTW), nipa, scrap, sari-sari store; Livestock Raising: hog raising and poultry; Land-based Agriculture: corn, rice and coconut production; Marine-based: fish cage, fish shelter, fishing; Service: money lending, carenderia/eatery, loading station, barber shop, vulcanizing and welding shop; and Manufacturing: banig making, nipa weaving, food processing, bakery. CSC briefs newly-hired proctors in Bislig City

BISLIG CITY, April 5 (PIA) - The Civil Service Commission (CSC) Provincial Office in coordination with the city government here through its Human Resource Management Office conducted an orientation for the chosen supervising examiners, room examiners and proctors recently at the DepEd-Bislig City Division in Mangagoy, this city.

The briefing was part of the preparation for the upcoming CSC Paper and Pencil Test (PPT) Examination for Professional and Sub-Professional levels on Sunday, April 6, 2014 to be held at De La Salle-John Bosco College in Mangagoy.

The orientation was carried out by the CSC Provincial Director Ruth C. Beniga. On the said briefing, matters on the duties and responsibilities of the Professional Corps of Examiners and Proctors (PROCTAD) on test administration were tackled.
