Dinagat Islands holds Tourism, Environmental
Protection Forum

SAN JOSE, Dinagat Islands, April 15 (PIA) – The
Provincial Tourism and Culture Office (PTCO) of Dinagat Islands conducted a
one-day Community-Based Tourism Informative and Environmental Protection
Development Forum for the proposed Plaridel, Arellano, Magsaysay, OsmeΓ±a,
Quezon and Sto. NiΓ±o plus DoΓ±a Helen (PAMOQS+D) Park Constituents in the
municipality of Libjo.
The said activity was spearheaded by Dinagat
Islands Provincial Tourism Officer Danilo C. Bulabos in coordination with the
province’s Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) and the Department
of Environment and Natural Resources – Province of Dinagat Islands (DENR-PDI).
The event was participated by the barangay
officials, stakeholders, Tourism Development Area (TDA) owners/caretakers and
other individuals from the seven identified barangays who are directly and
indirectly involved in the tourism industry.
During the forum, Bulabos tackled the tourism
fundamentals, laws and its salient features. Nathaniel Racho of DENR – PDI PENR
Office, also discussed laws on environmental protection, preservation and
conservation while Tomas S. Escaner of PENRO – LGU, then deliberated the Solid
Waste Management Plan.
Last October 2013, identified participants from
Loreto also underwent the same lecture in Libjo.
“We hope to continue this activity to educate
and enlighten the minds of the Dinagatnons in the Tourism Development Areas so
that they will safeguard the beauties and wonders that mother nature gave them,”

PBMA celebrates Master’s Week

DINAGAT ISLANDS, Apr. 16 (PIA) – The Philippine
Benevolent Missionaries Association, Incorporated (PBMA) is celebrating the
Master’s Week on April 12-17, 2014 in San Jose, this province.
The celebration commenced with the opening of
the sports competition. It is in commemoration of the birthday of PBMA’s
Supreme President Ruben B. Ecleo, Jr. on April 17.
It has been a practice of the people in San Jose
particularly PBMA members to celebrate Ecleo’s birthday even without his
presence.
The PBMA’s observance of the Master’s Week is a
manifestation of the member’s great love and honor to their supreme president.
The opening of sports competition was attended
by some of the association’s officials and dignitaries and the PBMA Sports
League President Mr. Valentine D. Maybuena, Jr.
There were 20 participating teams with their
lovely team muses representing PBMA chapters throughout Dinagat Islands.

(Aurelio Chapter) was awarded as the Best Team Muse. Basilisa Chapter got the best team uniform
award.
The first game started in the afternoon of the
same day and the championship game will be played on the 17th.
Other than the sports tournament, in the finale
of the week-long celebration will be series of activities and presentations all
dedicated to Ruben E. Ecleo, Jr. (PIA-Caraga)
LTO conducts “Oplan Ligtas Biyahe” in SurSur

TANDAG CITY, Apr. 16 (PIA) – “Oplan Ligtas
Biyahe: Semana Santa 2014” has been in operation Caraga-wide since April 1.
According to Lita Manzano, Officer-In-Charge
(OIC) of the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tandag City, the activation of
“DOTC Help Desk” set up in a strategic location within her general area of
responsibility (GAOR) signaled its implementation.
Manzano said that a three-man team manning the
said help desk has already been organized to carry out its purpose until April
22.
It was learned that DOTC Caraga OIC regional
director Engr. Roman Jumawan has required all concerned LTO chiefs to submit
