It is moving West Northwestward at 15 km/h. Shear Line affecting the eastern section of Southern Luzon. Northeast Monsoon affecting the rest of Luzon. Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Localized Thunderstorms. Possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. Moderate to strong winds from northeast to northwest will prevail over the western sections of Mindanao with moderate to rough seas (1.2 to 3.1 meters). Elsewhere, moderate winds from the northwest to southwest to southeast with moderate seas (1.2 to 2.5 meters).


4ID troopers apprehend illegal logging in AgSur

CAMP EVANGELISTA, Cagayan de Oro City, Mar. 23 (PIA) - Troops from the 3rd Special Forces Battalion under the Operational Control of the 4th Infantry “Diamond” Division together with Rosario Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer confiscated illegally cut logs “Lawaan” at Barangay Anoling, Rosario, Agusan del Sur on March 20, 2014 at 8:00 a.m.

Nemesio De Paz, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer of Rosario, Agusan del Sur accompanied the troops during this anti-illegal logging operation. The confiscated Lawaan logs was estimated to have a market value of P300, 000. The said logs were turned-over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Office-Caraga in Butuan City for proper disposition.

Colonel Gregory Cayetano, commander of the army’s 401st Brigade, thanked the people who provided them information about the abandoned illegally cut logs in the area. "Thank you for your unending support to the government in protecting and preserving our environment. Again, I warn the illegal loggers if you don’t stop your illegal activities," said Cayetano.


"We will exert all our efforts in supporting the government’s campaign against illegal logging to avoid further destruction of our natural resources," said Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo Leonardo Jr, commanding officer of the 3rd Special Forces Battalion.  (4ID PA/PIA-Caraga)
