Tandag City gov’t to allocate more funds for its education programs

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) - Tandag City Mayor Roxanne Pimentel said that the city government will allocate more funds to support scholarship grants and education for out of school youth.

Pimentel also said the city government is also supportive in sports related activities for the school children/students.

"Every year, we provide funding for the sports activities of our pupils/students especially during provincial meet to expose them on the different sports and other health-related activities," bared Pimentel.

Pimentel added that in the next congress, the city government hopes to make it a two-day activity to give more time for our children and they can enjoy more fun activities while they also learn new things from the invited speakers.

“210 pupils will again participate in the next year's children's congress and hopefully to include the children with special needs," stressed Pimentel.

It was also learned that Mayor Pimentel has raised an ordinance avoiding minors to enter any videoke bars in Tandag City. "We believe this will prevent prostitution and trafficking in persons among minors," she said. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)


RCWC to hold 4th Caraga Children’s Congress in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) – In celebration of this year’s National Children’s Month, the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children (RCWC) led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Caraga will be holding the 4th Caraga Children’s Congress on October 29 at the Almont Hotel’s Inland Resort, this city.

“The participants of this congress are the children aged 10-15 years old who are beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in all cities and municipalities of Caraga region,” bared DSWD-Caraga regional director Minda Brigoli.

Local officials and representatives from government agencies will also attend said event.

This is also an avenue for proper representation of issues and concerns of the children sector.

Said celebration is in accordance to Proclamation No. 267, which is to give recognition to all Filipino children who are the most valuable asset of the nation. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)


Surigao del Sur generally peaceful, manageable - PNP

TANDAG CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) – Despite the slight increase in crime volume, the peace and order situation in the province of Surigao del Sur is generally peaceful and manageable, said Police provincial director Antonio Taylan during the Provincial Peace and Order Council meeting held on Monday, Oct. 21 at the Provincial Governor's Conference Room, this city.

Taylan said from January – September 2013, the Police Provincial Office (PPO) has recorded a total crime volume of 814 incidents with an increase of 39 incidents compared from the same period of 2012.

"Out  of 814 incidents,  477 recorded as index crimes from 1st to 3rd quarter of this year (rape, robbery, theft, physical injury, homicide, murder, cattle rustling, and carnapping) where physical injury is the most common crimes with recorded 134 incidents followed by theft with 128 incidents," he said.

He also reported the accomplishment on special laws, to include the implementation of the COMELEC resolution on total gun ban in coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

In connection with the forthcoming Barangay Election, Taylan said they were able to arrest two persons and confiscated two caliber .38 revolvers and one 12-gauge shotgun.  (NGPB/PIA-Surigao del Sur)


HRMI Surigao Norte Council to host 10th Caraga HR Managers Convention

SURIGAO CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) – The Surigao del Norte Council of Human Resource Managers, Inc. will host the 10th Caraga Regional Council of Human Resource Managers, Inc. (CRCHRMI) on October 23-24, 2013 at Philippine Gateway Hotel, this city.

This year’s convention is anchored on the theme, “Caraga HR Managers: Leading the Quest for a Competent and Dignified Government Human Resources.”

Topics to be discussed during the 2-day activity include HR Moral Imperative: Creating an Ethical Workplace by Assistant Commissioner Ariel G. Ronquillo of Civil Service Commission; Managing Workplace Diversity, encouraging creativity and building capability by Ms. Helen Alian-Evalle of HAE Consultancy; Readiness and Intention to early Retirement among Government Employees in Butuan by Ms. Pilar M, Bulawin of CRCHRMI; Improving Human Resource practice in the region through inter-active collaboration; sharing of Best Practice and Implementation of SPMS in the province of Agusan del Sur by Agusan del Sur Governor Adolph Edward G. Plaza;  and HR Competencies and Civil Service Commission updates by Director Emma M, Dela PeΓ±a of CSC Diliman, Quezon City.

The 2-day activity will be highlighted with the Awarding of Regional Qualifiers for the Civil Service Commission National Awards and the Launching of CRCHRMI Website.

Surigao del Norte Governor Sol F. Matugas, Surigao City Mayor Ernesto T. Matugas and CSC-Caraga Regional Director Adams D. Torres are expected to graced the event.

According to CRCHRMI Surigao del Norte Council President Mila B. Lisondra, around 300 Human Resources Managers from Agusan del Norte Council, Agusan del Sur Council, Province of Dinagat Islands Council, Surigao del Norte Council, Surigao del Sur Council and CSC Provincial Directors are expected to participate the said event. La Torre, Butuan City Division Araling Panlipunan Coordinator niadtong Oktobre 17-19, 2013 gipahigayon sa Division Training Center niining dakbayan.

Moduolan sa ka gatos nga magtutudlo ang mitambong sa nasangpit nga seminar, mapasekondarya man o elementaryang tulunghaan sulod niining dibisyon sa Butuan City. Tumong niini nga mokat-on ang mga magtutudlo kon unsa ka mahinungdanon ang pag-edukar diha sa katawhan samtang ginamatoto usab ang ilang mga anak.
