2nd Leg of “Kasibulan” football clinic slated

BUTUAN CITY, June 29 (PIA) -- More than 500 children are expected to participate in the 2nd leg of the Kasibulan Football Grassroots Festival slated on June 29-July 1, 2012 at the Butuan City Sports Complex in Brgy. Libertad, Butuan City.

The football clinic, which is aimed at introducing football to about 3,000 kids ages 6 to 12 years old, is organized by the Butuan-Agusan Norte Football Association (BANFA) and the Philippine Football Federation (PFF).

According to BANFA President and Butuan City Vice Mayor Lawrence “Law” Fortun, this development program is patterned after the very successful football program of the Federal Republic of Germany. “Since this program is offered for free, I urge the public to take advantage of this opportunity and entice their kids to participate in this worthwhile event. It is hoped that the next Azkals Team who will compete in the Asian Football Cup on 2018 will come from the participants of this program, and hopefully someone will come from our area as we have already proven in the past to produce high caliber football player,” said Fortun.

Not all major cities have a chance to host this kind of football festival, and Butuan City and the province of Agusan del Norte is lucky to be included, owing to the very active local football association headed by Fortun.

A basic coaching course will also be offered to interested football enthusiasts. To attract more participants to the clinic, BANFA and the PFF have partnered with the Department of Education for this leg’s staging. (RER/NCLM/BC-VMO/PIA-Caraga)

Feature: Breastfeeding vs bottle feeding during calamities

Calamities strain people’s physical and economic resources. The recent calamities that struck the country had displaced thousands of families and the aftermath was worse as illnesses began to spread.

During the displacement, infants and young children are the most vulnerable. Having weak immunities, they are the ones who easily get sick in crowded evacuation centers.

Feeding infants and young children with milk formulas in resettlement areas may pose dangers to their nutrition and health status.

First, safe water needed for the preparation of milk formula and for cleaning and sterilizing materials such as bottles and nipples may not be available in the area. Water in evacuation centers may be contaminated that may cause diarrhea, cholera, and other water-borne diseases.

Water should be boiled for at least three minutes if it is to be used to prepare milk formulas. Bottles and nipples should be boiled longer to make them sterile.

This poses a problem: not only regarding the safety of water but also of fuel source, which may also be scarce in evacuation centers.

Refrigerators, in evacuation areas, are hardly available, making milk formulas spoil easily. And in this critical situation, money is tight, making milk formulas out of reach.

Mothers who are under stress may have stopped lactating for a day or so, but this can be overcome with good support. It is a myth to think that because mothers are under stressful situations, they would not be able to breastfeed. They only need support for relactation.

On the other hand, breastfeeding is still the best for babies particularly in this condition. Breast milk is the perfect food for newborns and infants because it provides all the nutrients needed for healthy development.

Today, in families in emergency situations where their basic living infrastructures have been compromised, breast milk provides a safe food for babies. Breast milk contains antibodies that help protect them from common childhood illnesses like diarrhea, pneumonia, and malnutrition.

Moreover, breast milk is readily safe and available. This helps to ensure that infants get adequate sustenance at the time when they need it, even in emergency situations.

Spanish grant extends aid to Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries

BUTUAN CITY, June 29 (PIA) -- Caraga once again becomes a recipient of an international grant as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) finalizes a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Spanish government and three local government units (LGUs) here this month to complement the implementation of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

Now on its seventh and final year of implementing the community-driven development (CDD) project Poder, Agencia Espanola Cooperacion Internacional para el Desarollo (AECID) will be giving a new grant of P12.4 million for development projects in the region, according to Regional Project Coordinator Elsa D. Montemor.

The municipalities of Sta. Josefa, Agusan del Sur; Tubajon, Province of Dinagat Islands; and San Agustin, Surigao del Sur will benefit from this Spanish grant that will cater primarily to the Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries.

“As the number of Pantawid Pamilya beneficiaries DSWD is supporting increases, so does the need for the additional supply side of the program,” Montemor said.

The implementation of Poder 7 in the region is aimed at improving the community’s access to basic health and education services.

“Aside from providing capability-building training to empower the volunteers and beneficiaries, the community will also build infrastructure projects that should aid them in complying with the conditions set by Pantawid Pamilya,” Montemor added.

Communities will be putting up sub-projects such as day care centers, health stations, and elementary and high school buildings during the one-year coverage of the grant.

“With a proven track record of implementing CDD projects in the country, we are very confident that our partnership with DSWD will deliver the intended results and help our countrymen in steering development for themselves,” Caraga Regional Training Officer for AECID Lyca T. Water soon to flow in waterless taps in Surigao del Norte

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, June 28 (PIA) -- No more dry taps anymore. Governor Sol Matugas announced that the province received a water supply grant intended for waterless municipalities and barangays here.

Dubbed 2012 Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) Program, the project will provide safe and potable water for waterless municipalities and poorest barangays with high level of waterborne diseases, resettlement areas, and rural health units/birthing clinics with no access to safe water.

The program shall be executed by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) - Office of the Project Development Services (OPD) in partnership with DILG regional office and the provincial government as implementing partners.

The governor said she had already received the guidelines from the DILG on the said project which will cover the upgrading/expansion of level 3 water supply systems and construction/rehabilitation/expansion/upgrading of level 2 and 1 water systems.

Preventing heart disease and stroke

The heart and blood vessels make up your circulatory system. Your heart is a muscle that pumps blood through the body.

The heart pumps blood carrying oxygen to large blood vessels called arteries and small blood vessels called capillaries. Other blood vessels called veins carry blood back to the heart.

When cholesterol is too high, the insides of large blood vessels become narrowed or clogged. This problem is called atherosclerosis.

Narrowed and clogged vessels make it harder for enough blood to get to all parts of your body. Narrowed blood vessels leave a smaller opening for blood to flow through.

Having narrowed blood vessels is like turning on a garden hose and holding your thumb over the opening. The small opening makes the water to shoot out with more pressure, leading high blood pressure. Other factors such as kidney problems and being overweight can also lead to high blood pressure.

You may control your blood pressure by eating more fruits and vegetables, eating low-salt and low-sodium foods, losing weight if you need to, being physically active, not smoking, and limiting alcoholic drinks.

Heart and blood vessel disease can lead to heart attacks and strokes. There are nine ways to prevent heart disease and stroke.

First, keep your blood glucose under control. Have an A1C test twice a year. The A1C test measures the average blood glucose level for the past two to three months. The higher the level of glucose in the blood, the higher the A1C result will be. For most people with diabetes, an A1C goal of less than seven is recommended. Reaching the goal is important since every one percent increase above this A1C result raises the risk for diabetes-related complications. Should blood glucose levels rise above this goal, a change of medicines or a review of the treatment plan is needed.

Second, keep your blood pressure under control. Below 130/80 is the target for most people.

Third, keep your cholesterol under control. Have it checked at least once a year. The target for most people for low density lipoprotein (LDL) or bad cholesterol is below 100; high density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol should be above 40 for men and above 50 for women. Triglycerides should be below 150.

Fourth, make physical activity a part of your daily routine. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise most days of the week. Check with the doctor to learn what activities are best for you.

Fifth, make sure the foods you eat are “heart healthy.” Include foods with high fiber such as fruits, vegetables, whole-grain breads, and oats. Cut back on meats, butter, and dairy products. Limit foods with trans fat such as potato chips.

Sixth, lose weight if you need to. If you are overweight, try to exercise most days of the week. Consult a registered dietitian for help in planning meals and lowering the fat and calorie content of your diet to reach and maintain a healthy weight.

Seventh, if you smoke, quit.

Eight, check if you need to take aspirin. Studies show that low dose of aspirin everyday can help reduce the risk of heart disease and stroke.

Bureau of Soils and Water Management magsasagawa ng pagsusuri ng lupa para sa agri-development

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Hunyo 28 (PIA) -- Isang grupo ng mga dalubhasa mula sa Bureau of Soils and Water Management, Quezon City at ang ilang mga lokal na mga kawani ang iikot sa buong lalawigan para sa pagsusuri, pag-uuri at pag-alam ng wastong paggamit ng lupa para sa agri-investment sa Agusan del Sur.

Ang proyektong ito ay isang magkasamang gagawin ng pamahalaang panalalawigan ng Agusan del Sur, ng Department of Agriculture at ng Bureau of Soils and Water Management (BSWM), na may kabuuang pondo na P2.4 milyon. Ito ay tatagal ng limang buwan at sinimulan ngayong Hunyo 2012.

Ayon kay Dr. Ang Joriz Elevazo, OIC Provincial Agriculture officer, ang pagsisiyasat ay may tatlong antas. Una ay ang presurvey na kinabibilangan ng konsultasyon at pakikipag-usap sa mga stakeholder at paghahanda ng mga base map at mga materyales. Pangalawa ay ang field survey na binubuo ng mga gawain tulad ng mga guhit-balangkas at pagmamapa ng lupa, paggamit ng lupa at pag-alam ng klima at mga mapagkukunan ng tubig at koleksyon ng mga sample ng lupa. Ang pangatlo ay kinapapalooban ng pagsusuri sa laboratoryo ng mga sample ng lupa, finalization at pagpaparami ng mga mapa at pag-uulat ukol sa resulta ng mga nagawa na.

"Sa kabuuan, ang layunin ng proyektong ito ay upang makabuo ng isang komprehensibong hanay ng impormasyon ng mga lupa na siyang magiging batayan para sa agricultural development planning at agri-development potential para sa pangmatagalang pag-unlad. Ang ibig sabihin, dahil sa mga datos ng mga lupa at land resources na ito, ang mga magsasaka at mga tagagawa ng plano ay maging guided sa pagplano, pagpili o pagkilala ng tamang pamumuhunan dito sa lalawigan o kaya mga bayan o lungsod o barangay o ang lugar ng sakahan mismo. Ito rin ay magsusukat ng produksyon ng gagamiting lupain at ang kikilala ng tamang itatanim sa tamang lupain. Ang kalalabasan ng proyektong ito ay kasama ang produksyon sa mga sumusunod: mga mapa ng mga lupain, libis, pagguho, kakayahan ng lupa, kayabongan, mapa na nagtuturo ng angkop na pangunahing pananim at agri-investment, at relief model (sukat para sa 1:150,000) o anumang naaangkop na sukat," sabi ni Elevazo.

Naniniwala ang Provincial Agriculture Office na ang lupa ay isang mahalaga at kritikal na kadahilanan sa produksyon ng pananim. Para sa anumang uri ng pananim na makapagbibigay ng nais na antas ng produksyon, ang lupa ay dapat maging angkop para sa paglago at pag-unlad ng pananim. Ang mga magsasaka, mga tagagawa ng plano at tagapagpatupad ng mga programa o proyekto ng pag-unlad ay maaaring magbuhos ng kanilang puhunan dahil sa pagkakaroon ng karunungan sa kanilang mga lupain at sa kahalagahan ng lupa.

Ang pamahalaang panlalawigan panlalawigan sa ilalim ng administrasyon ni Governor Adolph Edward G. Plaza ay nagsusumikap upang sugpuin ang kahirapan sa lalawigan sa pamamagitan ng tiyak na pamumuhunan sa pagpaparami ng produkto at kita para sa bawat taga Agusan. (DMS/PIA-Agusan del Sur)

Ang aktibidad ay naaayon sa temang “Philippine Red Cross @ 63: 24/7 in service to Humanity,” na itatampok ang pagsasagawa ng eleksyon para sa PRC Board of Directors.

Ayon kay Teodoro Cairo, PRC Agusan del Norte-Butuan City Chapter President, ang mga kalahok ay kailangan na may leadership at managerial ability o posisyon sa kalakaran ng mga sumusunod: business, industry, banking at finance, education, government, socio-civic activity, military service, religious community na magbibigay ng kontribusyon sa katuparan ng misyon ng Philippine Red Cross.

Sila ay kailangan ding may mga naisakatuparan o may nagawang aktibidad na kaugnay sa social work at mga kalapit na aktibidad o serbisyo.

Ang mga kalahok ay kailangan ding naniniwala sa prinsipyo ng Red Cross, interesado sa board at nais na magsilbi sa komunidad.

Kinakailangan din na sila ay may aktwal na partisipasyon sa mga board meeting at ibang aktibidad, at kailangan na regular na contributor bilang miyembro ng Red Cross.

BUTUAN CITY, Hunyo 28 (PIA) -- Dalawampu’t walong lokal na pamahalaan sa rehiyon ng Caraga ang nakatanggap ng Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) galing kay Kalihim Jesse Robredo ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) na ginanap kasabay ng Tapatan para sa Disaster Preparedness kamakailan lang.

Para sa antas ng probinsya, ang Surigao del Norte at Agusan del Norte ang nag-qualify para sa Seal of Good Housekeeping at nakatanggap ng PCF na nagkakahalagang P7 milyon bawat isa.

Lima rin sa mga hanay ng lokal na pamahalaan sa syudad na antas ang nag-qualify at nakatanggap ng P3 milyon bawat isa. Ito ay ang mga sumusunod: Cabadbaran, Tandag, Surigao, Bislig, at Bayugan.

Samantala, 21 na munisipalidad naman ang nakatanggap ng nasabing insentibo na nagkakahalaga ng P1 milyon bawat isa. Ito ang munisipalidad ng Buenavista, Las Nieves, at Nasipit sa probinsya ng Agusan del Norte; Bunawan, Esperanza, La Paz, Loreto, Prosperidad, Rosario, San Francisco, San Luis, Sibagat, Talacogon, Trento, at Veruela sa probinsya ng Agusan del Sur; Cantilan, Hinatuan, San Miguel, Tagbina, at Tago sa Surigao del Sur; at Claver naman sa probinsya ng Surigao del Norte.

Ang “4th class hanggang 6th class” na munisipalidad naman sa Surigao del Sur ay nakatanggap din ng parehong pondo galing sa nasabing ahensya ng pamahalaan noong Disyembre 2011. Nakatanggap din ang syudad ng Butuan ng parehong insentibo.

Ayon kay DILG Caraga Information Officer Florian Faith Bayawa, ang PCF ay isang insentibong pondo para sa mga local government units bilang counterpart na pondo sa mga high-impact capital investment projects para sa Annual Investment Program at pinondohan ng 20 porsyentong development fund na binubuo ng national goals and priorities.

Dagdag ni Bayawa na uunahing bibigyan ng pondo sa mga lokal na pamahalaan na mababa ang kita at may mga matataas na insidente ng kahirapan.

Samantala, ang munisipalidad ng Talacogon, Trento at Veruela sa Agusan del Sur ay nakatanggap din ng pondo sa pagpapatupad ng Salintubig na proyekto galing kay Robredo. Ang mga barangay naman ng Bugsukan at Buntalid sa Cantilan, Surigao del Sur; Barangay Remedios sa Esperanza, Agusan del Sur; at barangay Sta. Cruz at Mabini sa Tubajon, Surigao del Norte ay nakatanggap din ng nasabing proyekto.

Ang Salintubig ay isa sa mga flagship program ng administrasyong Aquino na kasali sa mga tinututukang proyekto na naaayon sa Philippine Development Plan kasama ng Millennium Development Goals upang magbigay daan sa mga tao na magkaroon ng suplay ng tubig at malinis na lugar. (RER/PIA-Caraga)

BUTUAN CITY, Hunyo 28 (PIA) -- Sinabi ni Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo na ang pamahalaan ay seryoso sa pagpapatigil ng illegal logging at mining activities sa rehiyon ng Caraga.

Sa ginanap na press conference kamakailan, nilinaw ni Robredo na upang matigil ang mga ilegal na aktibidad na ito, ang pamahalaan ay nakikipag-ugnayan sa security forces kagaya ng Philippine National Police (PNP).

Binigyang diin din ng hepe ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) na ang mga taong kasangkot sa ilegal na aktibidad na ito ay mananagot sa batas.

Ayon kay Robredo, ang mga opisyal at mga empleyado ng pamahalaan na sangkot sa mga ilegal na aktibidad ay tatanggalin sa kanilang mga posisyon. Aniya, personal niya itong irerekomenda kay Pangulong Benigno Aquino III upang maalis ang mga kasangkot na opisyal at empleyado ng pamahalaan.

Sinabi rin nito na ang local media ay isang malaking tulong sa pamahalaan sa pagsisikap na matigil ang illegal logging at mining sa rehiyon, at hiniling sa media na makiisa at samahan ang PNP sa kanilang pgpupursige na pigilin ang mga ilegal na aktibidad.

Si Robredo ay nandito kamakailan upang dumalo sa Tapatan on Disaster Preparedness sa rehiyon ng Caraga.

Ang aktibidad ay naaayon sa temang “Preparedness Saves Lives” at “Kaluwasan sa Katalagman Kinahanglan Pangandaman.” Itinampok din dito ang panawagan ni Robredo sa disaster readiness and response, pati na ang paglagda ng pledge of commitment ng mga partisipante galing sa lahat ng lokal na pamahalaan sa rehiyon na nagpupursige sa paglalagay sa disaster preparedness bilang prayuridad para sa kaunlaran ng mga local government units (LGU), bilang tugon sa kautusan sa ilalim ng DILG Circular 2010-143 noong Disyembre 9, 2010.

32 passengers rescued as motorboat capsizes off Surigao City

SURIGAO DEL NORTE, June 27 (PIA) -- A motorized banca M/B Carl Mica May carrying 32 passengers including the boat captain and one boat crew capsized on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the vicinity of Raza Point seawater of Hinatuan Passage in Surigao City.

Official report from Quick Action Response Team (QART) Surigao City revealed that around 12:30 p.m., the boat was traversing along the vicinity of Raza Point from Brgy. Bitaugan, Bayagnan Island going to Surigao City when the boat was battered by huge waves and strong winds due to bad weather and caused it to capsize.

It was learned that 15 passengers rescued by QART are from Gigaquit, Surigao del Norte; 13 from Brgy. Bitaugan, Surigao City; three from Nueva Extension, Surigao City; two from Brgy. Kinabutan, Surigao City; two from Kaskag, Brgy. Washington, Surigao City; and one from P-3 Brgy. Canlanipa, Surigao City.

DAR celebrates 24th year anniversary disclosing 2011 accomplishment, positioning to exceed 2012 target

AGUSAN DEL SUR, June 27 (PIA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform Agusan del Sur (DAR-AdS) provincial office exceeded by two percent its 2011 land tenure improvement (LTI) target, having acquired a total of 4,311.7723 hectares of land against the 4,211 target and distributed a total of 4,311 hectares of agricultural lands to 2,431 agrarian reform beneficiaries.

In a press conference held at the DAR- AdS office on June 26, Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer (PARO) Paysal Tumog Al hajj said that although the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) is tough with the new law that took effect in the middle of 2011 plus the lack of manpower and resurging bottleneck that they faced in the implementation of CARP last year, they knew that they have brought changes and development to the lives of their agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and communities while lending their hands even to the most deprived barangays.

To prove this, JCA Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (JARBENCO) Chairman Melvin Mondido said that in 1999, when his group acquired the 296 hectares of land from Jose C. Aquino (JCA) rubber plantation in Bayugan City, not all were planted with rubber. After subdividing the land that they acquired, they planted it with oil palm, and at present, while working with JCA, their income is more than the basic salary of one employed.

Hilario Amas, Chairman of Boan Irrigators Association (BIA) in Rosario town, also said that although they were organized by the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), half of their 172 members are agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs). Amas said DAR has strengthened their organization, and because of this help from DAR, BIA became a national irrigators’ awardee in 2010 receiving a cash prize of P1 million, while Amas himself was given a leader awardee last year, receiving P200,000.

“With regards to Agrarian Justice Delivery (AJD), we have achieved 145 percent performance in the resolution of agrarian reform cases, including assistance made to our ARBs and agrarian disputes resolution. As an aid to our ARBs, the program, through its program beneficiaries development (PBD) component provided necessary support services to accelerate rural development and agricultural productivity even in most remote areas,” PARO Tumog said.

According to PARO Tumog, for the first semester this year, DAR-AdS has already acquired a total of 199.6180 has. and distributed 196.2289 has. to their ARBs. Tumog said they are confident that they can deliver or even exceed with their target, like the past years of implementing the program. They are also continuously pouring their support services, like the P36 million worth of farm to market road and P4 million worth of potable water system in the agrarian reform communities in Esperanza town with the help of the provincial and municipal local government units. PARO Tumog also proudly presented the newly renovated DAR provincial office in San Francisco whose funds were taken from their provincial operations savings.

“With the present situation and testimonies of our ARBs, we believe and feel that our program, indeed, made the lives of our ARBs better,” PARO Tumog said. (RER/DMS/PIA-Caraga)

AGUSAN DEL SUR, Hunyo 27 (PIA) -- Ang konseho ng Panlalawigang Nutrisyon sa Agusan del Sur ay nagtipon-tipon kamakailan upang paghandaan ang pagdiriwang ng buwan ng nutrisyon sa buong buwan ng Hulyo at isaayos ang mga programa sa nutrisyon nang ito ay makakuha ng suporta mula sa iba’t ibang sektor at mapakinabangan ng lahat.

Sinabi ni Provincial Nutrition Service officer Laniebelle Angchangco na ang buong buwang pagdiriwang ay hindi lamang para paalalahanan ang mga lahat kung bakit kailangang magkaroon ng wastong nutrisyon kundi pati na rin upang ilahad ang mensahe na ang pagkakaroon ng wastong nutrisyon ay bahagi ng pamumuhay.

"Noong nakaraang taon, hinamon namin ang lahat ng mga mga barangay nutrition scholars upang hikayatin ang lahat ng mga lider ng purok na magtatag ng pampurok na garden at kung maari, ang bawat residente na magkaroon ng garden sa kanilang kabahayan upang ang lahat ng mga tao sa loob ng komunidad ay magkaroon ng abot kamay na gulay at iba pang mga nakatanim ng pagkain sa loob ng kanilang bakuran. Sa taong ito, sa ating pagdiriwang ng buwan ng nutrisyon, sisimulan natin ang paligsahan, at magbibigay din tayo ng mga gantimpala para sa mga taos-pusong nagpatupad sa ating hamon, habang magbibigay din tayo ng parangal sa kanilang makabuluhang kontribusyon sa pagparami ng pagkain para sa komunidad at sa kanilang pagpamahagi ng kaalaman tungkol sa nutrisyon," sabi ni Angchangco.

Kabilang sa mga gawaing nakalinya para sa pagdiriwang ng buwan ng nutrisyon sa taong ito, sa mga munisipyo, ay ang mga sumusunod: pagkakabit ng mga streamer bago pumasok ang buwan ng Hulyo; ang pagpapasimula ng pagdiriwang ng buwan ng nutrisyon sa mga bayan at lungsod ng Bayugan sa panahon ng flag raising ceremony; ang pag-e-evaluate ng mga komunal na mga garden; ang pagbibigay ng mainit na pagkain sa mga kabataang nasa eskwelahan at ang pagkakaroon ng nutrition scholars’ summit.

Para sa lalawigan, ang kickoff activity ay gaganapin sa Lunes ng umaga at ito ay sa flag raising ceremony sa kapitolyo. Ilulunsad din ang programang “Oh aking gulay” kung saan mamimigay sa mga empleyado ng libreng mga buto at iba pang kagamitan sa pagtatanim. BUTUAN CITY, Hunyo 26 (PIA) -- Sa paniniwalang ang pangunahing problema sa probinsya ay ang kahirapan, sinusuportahan ng mga opisyal ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Agusan del Norte ang pagpapalaganap sa mga proyektong tutugon sa kahirapan.

Ito'y matapos ibinalita kamakailan ni Gov. Erlpe John Amante na ang probinsya ay nagbigay ng P2.5 milyones bilang counterpart para sa implementasyon ng “Makamasang Tugon” na proyekto.

Sinabi rin ni Amante na mahigit sa 17,513 qualified recipients na ang nakabenepisyo sa Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), isang poverty alleviation program ng pamahalaang nasyonal, kung saan higit P56 milyones na ang naipamigay sa mga benepisyaryo ng probinsya.

Sinabi rin ng hepe ng probinsya na sa ika-anim na taon ng implementasyon nito, ang Self-Employment Assistance Kaunlaran Program (SEA-K) ay nagbigay ng 39 na proyektong pangkabuhayan sa probinsya na may total capital na P5.6 milyones. “Proud po ako na ibalita sa inyo na ang overall recovery o repayment rate ay naging 93 porsyento na sa ngayon,” ani Amante.

Ibinahagi rin ng opisyal ang matagumpay na pagpapalaganap sa Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Service (KALAHI-CIDSS) na nagsimula sa apat na proyekto sa munisipalidad ng Carmen, na nagkakahalaga ng P4.5 milyones, at anim naman sa Jabonga na may total cost na P10.1 milyones.

“Ito ay dahil sa mga kaganapan na na-implementa at ako ay umaasa na ang lahat ng ito ay mapapanatili kung saan aatupagin ko na naman ang iba pang mga panawagan,” aniya.

Sinabi rin ni Amante na ang Botika ng Barangay program ay isa sa mga importanteng investment na ginawa nila.

Aniya, ang programa ay merited recognition ng Center for Health Development bilang pinakamaayos na health program sa rehiyon ng Caraga sa loob ng apat na taon simula sa taong 2008.

Sinabi rin ng opisyal na simula sa taong 2011, ang pamahalaang probinsya ay nakapagtayo ng 118 outlets at nakagawa ng net profit na P858,784.82.
