Caraga stakeholders to participate in the PYDP action planning workshop

By Jennifer P. Gaitano

BUTUAN CITY, Oct. 8 (PIA) -- Caraga stakeholders will participate in the action planning workshop for the 2012-2016 Philippine Youth Development Plan (PYDP) on October 9-11 at the Department of Education (DepEd) Caraga Regional Office, this city.

This is in support to President Benigno Aquino III’s social contract with the Filipino people.

Atty. Eddie Cuaresma, area cluster head of Northeastern Mindanao, said the PYDP was formulated with three objectives to revolutionalize youth development, namely: 1) Improve enabling conditions for youth participation in governance, society and development; 2) Increase contribution and benefit of youth in the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals and other goals; and 3) Improve access to quality basic services and social protection through enabling policies and programs.

“With PYDP as the framework, we will be conducting both national and regional action planning to determine the commitment and contributions of all duty bearers and the mechanism to mainstream the plan,” said Cuaresma.

“This framework agreement paves the way for a final, enduring peace in Mindanao. It brings all former secessionist groups into the fold; no longer does the Moro Islamic Liberation Front aspire for a separate state,” matud pa sa Pangulo.

“This means that hands that once held rifles will be put to use tilling land, selling produce, manning work stations, and opening doorways of opportunity for other citizens,” dugang pa niya.

Matud pa niya nga ubos sa maong Framework Agreement, usa ka bag-ong “political entity” ang mihulip sa Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao ug kini gitawag nga “Bangsamoro.”

“This agreement creates a new political entity, and it deserves a name that symbolizes and honors the struggles of our forebears in Mindanao, and celebrates the history and character of that part of our nation. That name will be Bangsamoro,” sa iyang pagpasabot.

“In the next few days, the basic principles and outline of the Agreement will be published in various periodicals; the Official Gazette of our government will post the Agreement in full. I urge everyone to participate in free and public discourse before the final signing. Everything will be disclosed; we have no desire to keep secrets. To the best of our ability, we have examined these agreements; we believe we have reached balance and common ground. As a result, we have rectified the errors of the past, and installed mechanisms to make sure they do not recur,” matud sa Pangulo. (RER/FEA/PIA-Surigao del Norte)
