MinDA to launch MindaNOW: Nurturing Our Waters Program on January 2012

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 17 (PIA) -- The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) is set to launch its flagship program dubbed “MindaNOW: Nurturing Our Waters Program” on January 2012 at the Kaamulan Grounds, Maramag, Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental.
In a press statement, MinDA Sec. Luwalhati Antonino bared that President Benigno S. Aquino III is expected to grace the event while a simultaneous regional launching of said program will also be conducted in each region in Mindanao that will be highlighted by a tree-planting activity in priority of the watershed areas.
Luwalhati also said that the program promotes twin thrusts toward Mindanao’s sustainable economic development namely: “economic and ecological integration” and “inclusive wealth creation”.
The Ecological Integration is anchored on planning Mindanao’s sustainable development based on its rich ecosystems and it takes cognizance of the carrying capacity of the environment and natural resource base.
This program is in support to the Millennium Development Goal and Philippine Development Plan of the Aquino administration specifically on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation.
Luwalhati further said that among the key strategies of the program is the massive education and information campaign involving dissemination of posters, brochures and other IEC materials about the MindaNOW Program.
“This is to raise consciousness among the Mindanao constituencies about environment issues, challenges and what MInDA and other government agencies, local government units, the civil society and non-government organizations, donor agencies as well as the private and business sectors intend to do to address these through the MindaNOW Program,” Luwalhati added.
MIndaNOW Program is an integrated set of development interventions anchored on sustainable development framework that aims to integrate, harmonize and rationalize plans, programs, policies, mechanisms and processes related to the utilization, development, protection and conservation of the watersheds and riverbasins.
Sec. Luwalhati is calling on to the public to support and participate in the activities and initiatives of the MIndaNOW Program in the different regions in Mindanao. (JPG/PIA-Caraga)

Association of Caraga Executives turns-over Php40,000 to Por Cristo

BUTUAN CITY, Dec. 17 (PIA) --The Association of Caraga Executives (ACE), represented by its President Atty. Rene K. Burdeos, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga Regional Director, and its Treasurer Ms. Helen M. Dumayas, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Assistant Regional Director, turned-over a P40,000.00 check to Por Cristo Foundation Incorporated, recently at the DBM-Caraga Regional Office, this City.
The Por Cristo Foundation Incorporated is a non-profit charitable institution dedicated to serve the poorest of the poor. It runs a home for the abandoned elderly located in Barangay Abilan, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte.
Dir. Burdeos said that the amount will be used to purchase flooring materials for its Social Hall.
It can be recalled that a couple of years ago, the ACE sponsored the roof construction of the Social Hall.
Dir. Burdeos also added that the ACE will continue its zeal of extending help to foundations like Por Cristo as part of its goal of helping the less privileged members of society. (DILG-13/PIA-Caraga)

Sigon ni OCD-Caraga operations division chief Amado Posas, naka-standby na ang mga service vehicles sa mga LGUs nga ma-igo sa pagkuso-kuso ni Sendong aron duna gilayo'y magamit higayong duna na'y ipatumang pre-emptive evacuation ilabina sa mga lugar nga prone sa flashfloods ug landslides.
Gidugang pa sa opisyal nga gi-orient na usab ang mga ahensya sa kagamhanan nga duna'y papel pagtabang sa mga residenteng ma-apektuhan sa kadaut nga mahatud unya sa bagyong Sendong.
Nakig-alayon na usab sila sa Department of Education kon DepEd-Caraga aron aduna'y magamit nga lawak-tunghaan isip temporaryong evacuation center, higayong duna'y mga lugar nga mabahaan.

Subay niini, nanawagan si director Leonita Gorgolon sa publiko nga suportahan ang ilang kampanya karong tuiga nga gitawag og APIR kon Aksyon: Paputok Injury Reduction.
Gipasabot sa opisyal nga kini usa ka estratihiyang kampanya aron malikayan ang mga matalang angol nga mahatud sa mga pabuto pinaagi sa pagpatuman sa mga precautionary measures aron malikayan ang paggamit sa mga pabuto og adaptahon ang alternatibong mga paagi sa pagsa-ulog sa malipayong Pasko.
Ang kampanya nanghingusog sa paggamit sa mga kamot isip simbolo sukwahi ngadto sa ma-angol nga kamot kung mabuthan.
Aron malikayan matud pa ang pagka-angol, kinahanglang makighi-usa sa Community Fireworks Display, magsa-ulog nga luwas uban sa pamilya, mugamit og mga luwas nga butang nga mumugna og kasaba sama sa torotot, kanta, silbato, lata ug uban pa, makiglipay diha sa kadalanan pinaagi sa street party, konsyerto, padula ug uban pa ug kinahanglang makakat-on sa mga tawong na-angol sa nakalabay'ng mga selebrasyon aron kompleto pa ang parte sa lawas sa pagsugat sa bag-ong tuig.
