BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — Demonstrating proactive governance and prioritizing public safety, the provincial government of Agusan del Norte has ordered the suspension of classes at all levels across the province on Monday, November 3, 2025, as part of its precautionary measures against the possible impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Tino.
The Agusan del Norte Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) chaired by Governor Ma. Angelica Rosedell M. Amante made the recommendation following the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (PAGASA) forecast of moderate to heavy rains affecting parts of the province.
Amante underscored that the welfare and safety of Agusanons remain the top priority of the provincial government. “We cannot compromise the safety of our students and communities. This suspension is a necessary precaution to ensure everyone’s protection as we anticipate the possible impacts of Severe Tropical Storm Tino,” she said.
The PDRRMC’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains on Code Blue Alert status to ensure round-the-clock monitoring and prompt coordination with local DRRM offices.
In support of these efforts, the Philippine Red Cross Agusan del Norte-Butuan City Chapter, as shared by Rayven Lerion, has also activated readiness measures. RC143 volunteers from Kitcharao, Jabonga, Santiago, Tubay, and Cabadbaran City have been alerted, an inventory of equipment and resources has been conducted, and key assets, including a food truck, ambulance, and response vehicle are on standby for possible deployment.
Earlier today, members of the PDRRMC, through the Provincial DRRM Office, convened a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) meeting to ensure all agencies are aligned in their responses and communications. PAGASA reports indicate that neighbouring provinces such as Surigao del Norte and the Dinagat Islands may experience heavy rains and gusty winds, potentially affecting adjacent municipalities in Agusan del Norte.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) in Agusan del Norte has issued a public advisory to ensure the safety of life and property at sea amid the prevailing inclement weather. The PCG reminds shipping lines and fishing companies to strictly adhere to the No Sail Policy.
