Linggo ng Kabataan’ empowers youth in Agusan Sur

By Kelvin Kennt R. Generalo

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur (PIA) — Young leaders and participants made up of Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials, students, and out-of-school youth from the

13 municipalities and one  city of Agusan del Sur recently gathered together to celebrate the Sibol Linggo ng Kabataan (LNK) 2025 at the Democrito O. Plaza Covered Court in Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur.

The gathering, ‘Linggo ng Kabataan’ which meant youth week, ignited the young people to embrace ‘sibol’ or to blossom through empowerment and become more productive in the  communities, showcasing their efforts in local projects and their influence in pushing the province forward.

“That is your calling, and hopefully this will lead to a better youth community in your barangay,” said Marvelous Dainty C. Camilo of the Department of Agriculture (DA) – Agriculture Training Institute (ATI) Davao region.

Camilo reminded the participants to always look back and remember the reason why they chose to serve. “Always ask yourself why did you run for office? Because you wanted to learn, to help, and to be a youth leader in your barangay. You are already in the position, so make the best out of it.”

He also highlighted that young people can already make a difference by using what they have.

“Even if you are not a Sangguniang Kabataan official, you can share reliable information through your phones or laptops. A simple act of posting or sharing from trusted sources doesn’t cost anything, but can help solve community problems and spread useful updates,” Camilo added.

Government offices such as the Education Development Services (EDS) of the provincial government of Agusan del Sur (PGAS), the Provincial Health Office (PHO), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and other provincial agencies joined the event to offer free services and opportunities to the youth.

Through Sibol LNK 2025 which took place on Sept. 20, the provincial government hopes to keep the youth inspired to contribute positive ideas and actions that build leadership, encourage civic involvement, and help secure a brighter future for the province.
