CSC offers gov’t vacancies to jobseekers in Caraga job fair

By Mariesh F. Celedeña

BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — Over 500 jobseekers participated and applied for the more than 300 government vacancies from entry level to second level positions during the two-day Government Job Fair spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) Caraga from September 3–4 in Butuan City.

This initiative brought together in one setting  the 22 participating government agencies, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Professional Regulations Commission (PRC), city government of Butuan, Department of Information and Communications Department (DICT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Social Welfare and Development Department (DSWD), among others, their respective vacancies nearer and more convenient to the Caraganons who wished to become public servants and contribute to nation-building.

This also formed part of the 125th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary with the theme, “Bawat Kawani, Lingkod Bayani: Puso, Dangal at Galing Para sa Bayan.”

Attorney Winston L. Plaza, regional director of CSC Caraga, encouraged all the applicants to take advantage of this opportunity, saying, “I encourage you, our jobseekers, to seize this opportunity to engage with our agencies, and take that step toward public service. Today may mark the start of your journey as public servants.”

“Also, the activity aims to help the government agencies that are challenged to fill in their vacant positions. It  allows the jobseekers to be oriented with the mandates of the participating agencies where they want to apply,” underscored Christopher C. Mabale, assistant regional director of CSC Caraga. “The job fair serves as a venue for the aspiring public servants to familiarize and understand the agencies that they want to work with.”

On the other hand, the agencies will be given the opportunity to converse with the applicants and understand them through a short interview and assess if the applicant qualifies for the position. If they qualify, their papers will then be accepted for the next step of the hiring process.

Ace Kevin B. Monteroso, one of the applicants, expressed enthusiasm to progress in the hiring process and was hopeful to be accepted by his preferred agency that is  aligned with his educational background and credentials.

As a regional employment activity, CSC Caraga will also look into enhancing the services of the said government job fair for the next run, ensuring that more jobseekers in the region will appreciate and benefit from this program. (MFC, PIA Caraga)
