By Niña Jonalyn Gambe-Diamante

BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — Local dairy farmers in San Francisco, Agusan del Sur are set to benefit from improved income opportunities and market access following the opening of the Dairy Box facility in the municipality on August 28.

The newly inaugurated facility serves as a centralized hub for milk collection, processing, and marketing, providing farmers with a reliable platform to sell their dairy products.

The Dairy Box project of the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Carabao Center (DA – PCC) operated in partnership with local government units and agricultural stakeholders, aims to strengthen the dairy value chain and promote sustainable livelihood for local farmers.

“This is a big milestone for our municipality. Naa na gyud ta’y mga produkto nga makatabang pa gyud sa atong farmers! (We now have new products which will indeed be a big help for our farmers!),” said Municipal Vice Mayor Ramil Pulvera.

With modern equipment and cold storage systems, the facility ensures product quality and safety, allowing farmers to meet market standards and expand their customer base. It also offers training and technical support to enhance milk production and farm management practices.

Municipal officials highlighted the Dairy Box as a strategic investment in rural development, noting that it empowers farmers to increase their earnings and contribute to the local economy. The initiative is part of broader efforts to modernize agriculture in Agusan del Sur and improve food security through community-based enterprise.

The opening of the Dairy Box marks a significant milestone for San Francisco’s farming sector, giving local producers the tools and infrastructure needed to thrive in the growing dairy industry. (NJGD/PIA Caraga)
