BUTUAN CITY (PIA) — Evelyn A. Lumile, a 71-year old resident of Barangay 9, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte who sells brooms for livelihood, expressed her gratitude to President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr. for fulfilling his promise of P20 per kilo of rice, saying the program is a big help to her family.
“This is a big help for us, especially for my family. Thank you President Marcos, for keeping your word to bring the affordable rice to our town,” said Lumile in her interview with PIA Agusan del Norte, being one of the beneficiaries of the Handog ng Pangulo held on September 13 at the Municipal Agriculture Office in Buenavista, where low-cost and quality rice was distributed to local residents.
The P20 affordable rice, a priority program of President Marcos, is now being rolled out in Caraga through the Department of Agriculture (DA) Caraga. The initiative seeks to ensure that Filipino families, especially senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs), and low-income households have access to affordable and quality rice.
Each buyer is entitled to purchase up to 10 kilos of rice upon presentation of a valid government-issued ID, while representatives of senior citizens and PWDs should have an authorization letter and ID to be able purchase the P20kg rice. Buyers are also encouraged to bring their own eco bags or sacks.
Local stakeholders, including media practitioner Louie Oranda of Radyo Kaalyado in Butuan City, also welcomed the program,. “I hope that the sale of P20 per kilo rice will continue to benefit more people.”
Oranda extended his birthday greetings to President ‘Bongbong’ Marcos during the activity at DA Caraga.
Meanwhile, in celebration of the President’s 68th birthday, the province of Agusan del Norte conducted AguSerbisyo in convergence with the Handog ng Pangulo Serbisyo Fair at Barangay Del Pilar, Cabadbaran City. The event brought together various provincial and national government services to serve residents of the Hope Village, a community for former rebels, now peace advocates of the province.
Through these initiatives, President Marcos’ administration aims to deliver Serbisyong Sapat Para sa Lahat, underscoring its commitment to inclusive service and food security for every Filipino family. (NCLM, PIA Agusan del Norte)
