SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) —The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Surigao del Norte, in partnership with the local government of San Benito, recently opened to the public the San Benito Negosyo Center.
The said center, serving as the 12th Negosyo Center established in the province of Surigao del Norte, invites tourists and visitors in Siargao Island to explore San Benito town and appreciate the ingenuity of their local entrepreneurs, making business and economic opportunities inclusive for all.
DTI Provincial Director Arnold Faelnar emphasized that the Negosyo Center is a one-stop shop for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). “The center’s establishment is a significant step towards bringing essential government services closer to the people of San Benito and Siargao Island as a whole. The goal is to promote ease of doing business and foster a culture of entrepreneurship, ultimately leading to job creation and economic growth in the community.”
He acknowledged and thanked the local government unit of San Benito for their strong support and partnership in making the Negosyo Center a reality. “This collaboration between the national government and the LGU is crucial for delivering effective programs that directly benefit local entrepreneurs such as business registration assistance, business advisory services, seminars and training programs, and market linkages and product display opportunities.”
“The center’s presence in San Benito, launched on August 28, is a symbol of the government’s commitment to the rehabilitation and resilience of Siargao’s local economy, ensuring that business can not only recover but also thrive,” he said, expressing a hopeful vision for the future and highlighting how the Negosyo Center will empower local entrepreneurs, particularly those affected by fortuitous events and disaster.
Meanwhile, Dominga, a business owner, said, “The establishment of Negosyo Center is a valuable resource for our entrepreneurial endeavors.”
She is hopeful that the center will provide the necessary support to help their businesses grow and expressed gratitude to DTI and other stakeholders for bringing these services closer to their community.
Negosyo Centers, established under the “Go Negosyo Act” or Republic Act No. 10644, are designed to promote entrepreneurship and bring MSMEs closer to their market, allowing them to thrive and contribute to economic activities for nation-building.
