BISLIG CITY (PIA) — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources – Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (DENR-CENRO) in Bislig City led the Community Outreach Program for the children of Sitio Mantuyom in Barangay San Roque on August 13, this city.
The initiative brought together DENR-CENRO Bislig City Chief Romel B. Arbolonio, the barangay local government unit of San Roque, and volunteers, showcasing that real progress is possible when the government and citizens work hand in hand.
Aimed at breaking learning barriers by providing essential school materials to children in remote areas, they distributed educational kits complete with notebooks, pens, pencils, crayons, paper, and other essentials to the young learners. The outreach also offered storytelling sessions and interactive learning games, fostering creativity, curiosity, and positive attitudes toward education.
“This initiative is part of DENR-CENRO Bislig’s continuing efforts to support students. Now on its third implementation, we are delighted that more learners are being reached and assisted,” Arbolonio said, emphasizing the importance of inclusive access to quality learning.
Beyond addressing immediate needs, the program reflects the government’s broader goal of empowering communities through education and unity. It affirms the Marcos administration’s vision of developing human capital as a cornerstone of national growth, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has the tools and confidence to pursue their dreams.
For residents of Sitio Mantuyom, the outreach was a reminder that their community matters and that they are part of the nation’s progress. Most parents expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting that the school supplies would not only ease their financial burden but also inspire their children to study with greater determination. “This support provides our children not just with school materials, but with hope and encouragement to continue their education despite life’s challenges.”
For the organizers and volunteers, this served as tangible proof that small acts of service can create ripples of hope and opportunity.
The Community Outreach Program was not just a day of distribution, it was a day of empowerment, partnership, and shared commitment to building a brighter, more inclusive future for all Filipino children. (NGPB, PIA Surigao del Sur)
