Port authorities announce new Surigao-S. Leyte ferry service route

SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte (PIA) - A new passenger and cargo vessel has started its regular operations between the Lipata Ferry Terminal in Surigao City, and the coastal town of Padre Burgos in Southern Leyte, marking a significant improvement in maritime connectivity between Leyte and Mindanao.
MV ANNTHER 8, operated by ALD Sea Transport, officially commenced its maiden voyage on Tuesday, June 24, offering twice-daily service on the Lipata-Padre Burgos route. The new vessel is expected to significantly boost tourism and other significant economic activities in both areas.
Departure schedule from Lipata is 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. with each journey to the destination port taking approximately three hours. This represents a substantial improvement in service frequency and reliability for travelers between Surigao del Norte and Southern Leyte.
MV ANNTHER 8 is designed to accommodate both passengers and rolling cargo with following capacity hold and amenities:
Vehicle capacity – 18 units of 10-wheeler trucks
Passenger capacity – 387 persons across tourist and economy classes
Complete amenities – Designed to ensure safe, comfortable, and efficient sea travel
The vessel also offers multiple fare options for passengers, with tourist class (lying) at P720 per person and economy class (lying) at P450 per person. Seating options are also available at P500 for aircon seating and P350 for economy seating.
It provides extensive freight services for various vehicle types, with rates ranging from P2,500 for motorcycles (250cc and up) to P25,000 for heavy equipment weighing 18-24 tons.
