TAGBINA, Surigao del Sur (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), through its program on Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services,KALAHI-CIDSS, recently launched the Cash-for-Work (CFW) initiative at the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) – Tagbina campus in the province of Surigao del Sur.

The program iimplementation supported the Marcos administration's callfor a Bagong Pilipinas centered on inclusive development, empower communities and strengthen human capital by preparing young Filipinos for future leadership roles. It embodied the national commitment to harness the energy of the youth to drive sustainable development at the grassroots level.

With strong backing from the local government of Tagbina, the program provided short-term employment to 267 beneficiaries, including college graduates and students, who will render 50 days of community service. Each participant will receive a daily wage of P435 starting May 2025, offering immediate financial relief and livelihood support.

The CFW program aims not only to address short-term economic needs but also to build a culture of civic responsibility and skills development among the youth. Beneficiaries will engage in activities that enhance community infrastructure, promote environmental stewardship, and contribute to various local development initiatives.

DSWD and LGU Tagbina reaffirmed their commitment to implementing programs that bridge economic gaps, strengthen community resilience, and inspire collective action for progress. Through initiatives like the program on Cash-for-Work, hope, growth, and collaboration continue to pave the way for a more resilient and self-reliant youth in Surigao del Sur. (Photo courtesy of LGU-Tagbina/PIA-Surigao del Sur)
