Caraga women’s summit set in Butuan City
BUTUAN CITY – The Caraga Regional Gender and Development Committee (RGADC) set the Caraga Women’s Summit on March 10, 2025, to be held in one of the hotels in Butuan City. This was agreed upon during the 1st quarter General Assembly Meeting of RGADC on February 07.
The summit will serve as a platform for discussions on various issues and concerns affecting women’s welfare and rights, highlighting the collective efforts toward gender equality and women empowerment. Furthermore, women leaders and advocates will be recognized for their outstanding contributions to advancing gender-responsive policies and initiatives.
The Caraga Women Summit will bring together GAD focal persons and their co-employees from various government agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), civil society organizations (CSOs), and representatives from the local government units (LGUs).
To further celebrate and uplift women, the summit will also feature various government services offered by agencies in support of women’s welfare; free massage and beauty care services for women participants; and trade fair and bazaar, showcasing local products and women-led enterprises.
The RGADC, chaired and secretariat by the Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Caraga, is one of the standing committees of the Caraga Regional Development Council (RDC). The Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (GEWE) Sub-Committee, led by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), shall spearhead the conduct of this significant event.
Regional Director Alexander A. Makinano of CPD Caraga encouraged all member agencies to actively participate and support the celebration, emphasizing that "the advancement of women's rights and well-being is crucial to sustainable regional development. Let us come together to celebrate the achievements and continuous efforts in gender equality and women empowerment."
The said summit is one of the highlights of the National Women's Month Celebration in March and marks a special observance of International Women's Day on March 8th. As Caraga continues its commitment to gender equality and inclusive development, this summit is expected to foster deeper collaboration and recognition of women’s vital roles in shaping a progressive society.
