DepEd-13 prepares for Palarong Pambansa 2026 in Agusan Sur

AGUSAN DEL SUR -- Agusan del Sur Governor Santiago Cane Jr. met with the Department of Education-Technical Working Group (DepEd-TWG) team led by Caraga Regional Director Maria Ines Asuncion to ensure the successful holding of the 2026 Palarong Pambansa in the province.

Held at the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO) conference room, the meeting was attended by the different stakeholders, key figures from the education sector, provincial government officials and sports experts in order to discuss plans, strategies and preparations.

Being the premier annual multi-sports event for elementary and high school students in the Philippines, the Palarong Pambansa plays a critical role in the development of the young athletes and in promoting sportsmanship, discipline and unity among the Filipino youth.

Governor Cane emphasized on the importance of early preparation and collaboration among various agencies and local government units in order for the event to be done smoothly and harmoniously.

The meeting served as a platform for updating key officials on the progress of the preparations, discussing logistical challenges and ensuring that all necessary resources are in place for the successful staging of the games.

Director Asuncion outlined their roles in ensuring that all of the events, from the selection of venues, billeting quarters to transportation and security measures are meticulously planned and executed, including the measures to be undertaken for crown control, emergency preparedness and health provisions.

The group also discussed the importance of securing sponsorships and forming partnerships with the private sector to support the event with their resources and expertise.

Gov. Cane also stressed on the need for orderly and sustainable practices in organizing the event, such as reducing waste, ensuring eco-friendly facilities, and promoting the use of local products and services.

Meanwhile, Dir. Asuncion expressed confidence that with the strong involvement of all stakeholders, the 2026 Palarong Pambansa edition would be a testament to the unity and resilience of the Filipino spirit in sports. (PPIO Agusan del Sur/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
