50 cops in Caraga complete tourism-oriented training

BUTUAN CITY -- The Department of Tourism (DOT) Caraga with the joint efforts of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Police Regional Office 13 concluded the 5-Day Tourist-Oriented Police for Community Order and Protection (TOPCOP) Integrated Training recently held at the Police Regional Office (PRO13), Sandigan Hall, Camp Col. Rafael C. Rodriguez, Brgy. Libertad, this city.

A total of 50 PNP personnel representing the five provinces of the region completed the said training, strengthening the partnership between the DOT and PNP in gearing towards a safe tourism destination in the entire region. 

DOT Caraga highlighted the lecture on the Child Safe Tourism and Filipino Brand of Service Excellence that equipped the PNP personnel with the basic tourism concepts, prevent commercial sexual exploitation of children in the tourism industry and to inculcate the values to the future tourist police in becoming effective tourism frontliners in the respective area.

These topics were facilitated by resource speakers namely, Joyce Therese Wabina, Tourism Integrated Services, Supports, and Mindsets for Women's Rights and Child Safety (TourISM WorCS) focal of DOT Caraga and DOT Filipino Brand of Service Excellence (FBSE) Trainer Marian Jill D. Castrence.

Police Colonel James T. Goforth, chief of regional staff (CRS) of PNP Caraga and DOT Caraga Dir. Ivonnie B. Dumadag, were present during the closing ceremony where Dir. Dumadag emphasized her appreciation to all graduates and recognized the PNP Caraga for its exceptional role as co-partner in the implementation of peace and order, especially during the launching of Philippine Experience Program (PEP) in the region which was successfully implemented to selected tourism destinations in October 2024.
