DILG-13 receives Drug-Free Workplace Certification

BUTUAN CITY --- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 13 officially conferred the Drug-Free Workplace Certification to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Caraga, during a ceremony held at the DILG Regional Office XIII of this city on December 18.

PDEA Caraga’s Provincial Officer for Agusan del Norte Emerson Joshua Santiago presented the plaque of commendation to DILG Caraga Dir. Maria Loisella E. Lucino, acknowledging the agency's commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace.

Santiago emphasized that the certification represents not just a recognition but a continuing obligation, as the status requires annual validation by PDEA.

PDEA Caraga also lauded DILG Caraga for its unwavering support in the drug clearing program, underscoring the vital role of DILG in strengthening PDEA’s enforcement efforts at the grassroots level.

Santiago urged DILG to continue its exemplary compliance and partnership with PDEA to combat illegal drugs and uphold the integrity of public service.

Upon accepting the plaque of commendation, Dir. Lucino echoed the DILG’s motto, “Matino, Mahusay at Maasahan”, emphasizing that every DILG officer and employee must embody the values of integrity, competence, and reliability—qualities crucial to fostering a drug-free workplace. She commended the DILG Caraga for its leadership in upholding national laws, particularly in the fight against illegal drugs.

In his closing message, Santiago congratulated DILG Caraga and commended the agency for its efforts to ensure a drug free workplace.

The conferment ceremony also served as part of the DILG Caraga's year-end celebration, “2024 Pasundayag sa DILG Trese,” which recognized the region's successful implementation of various programs.

Lucino expressed pride in achieving the drug-free status, which she considers a significant victory for the agency.

For the past several years, DILG Caraga has conducted drug-free workplace Orientation Seminar, resulting in the formulation and institutionalization of an anti-drug abuse policy and mandatory drug testing for all personnel. (LGOO VI Arvin Reyes Silvosa, R.E.B., DILG-13/PIA-Caraga)
