Dinagatnons to stage a resilient comeback in Sinulog 2025 stage

PROVINCE OF DINAGAT ISLANDS -- More than 400 student performers, artists, and musicians from Dinagat Islands’ Tribu Kamanting are set to stage a “resilient comeback” in this year’s Sinulog Festival in Cebu City.

“From a strong debut to a stronger comeback, we Dinagatnons will make our Islands proud,” said Congressional Representative Alan Uno B. Ecleo, who led the district-wide initiative to support Tribu Kamanting in competing against other performing groups from other provinces in the country.

“This year, expectations are high. But we are confident that Tribu Kamanting is ready to meet, even exceed expectations,” the solon added.

Supported by the Congressional Office of Dinagat Islands, the Barug Dinagat Foundation and municipal local government units, Tribu Kamating won big in their debut performance last year, placing first runner-up in the ritual showdown’s free interpretation category, second for best in musicality and fourth in street dancing.

“These are the youth that represent the fighting spirit of our people,” said Ecleo. “They will show everyone that when true Dinagatnons stand together, we win.”

According to Ecleo, the performance shall highlight the resilience of Dinagatnons against challenges, like their recovery from the Category 5 Super Typhoon Odette which devastated the province last 2021.

“We are joining to show the Philippines and the world that Dinagat Islands offer culture, history, natural beauty, and hardworking people ready to share the blessings of these Islands,” Ecleo stressed. “We are ready to share the Dinagat Islands’ experience to tourists and visitors from all over the country and the world.” (Congressional Rep.
