OFWs in Tubajon, Dinagat Islands receive training on coconut-based products

DINAGAT ISLANDS -- The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration - Regional Welfare Office (OWWA-RWO) Caraga recently hosted a skills training on coconut-based products combined with packaging and labeling seminar for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their beneficiaries in Tubajon, held at Cadaya Resort, Sta. Cruz, Tubajon, Province of Dinagat Islands.

With funding from OWWA-RWO Caraga, this initiative supported Tubajon’s development of coconut-based products, aiming to provide alternative income sources for OFWs and their families. Partnering with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in Dinagat Islands and the local government unit (LGU) of Tubajon, the activity featured experts who guided participants on coconut production, processing, and product presentation.

Resource speakers included Marnel Pareja, Kevin Bagilcol, and Bobit Timatong from PCA-Dinagat Islands, who shared insights on coconut production and processing methods such as yema, bokhayo, and spiced vinegar. Noli Kerk E. Padongao from Negosyo Center Tubajon conducted a session on effective product packaging and labeling.

The seminar, aligned with Tubajon's goals of boosting the coconut industry, reflected OWWA's commitment to enriching communities and enhancing livelihood opportunities for OFWs and their beneficiaries. (DTI-Dinagat Islands/PIA-Dinagat Islands)
