544th Engineer Construction Battalion helps project implementation for FRs

PROSPERIDAD, Agusan del Sur -- The newly-constructed 575.5-meter perimeter fence at Purok 8, New Hope Village in Barangay Del Pilar was officially turned-over on December 9. This collaborative effort underscored the government’s commitment to security and inclusivity for friends rescued (FRs) and their families.

It was through the effort of the local government unit (LGU) of Cabadbaran City, in partnership with the Philippine Army (PA) Units and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Agusan del Norte in fostering community development and peacebuilding in its area of responsibility.

The turnover ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting, gift-giving for children, and the distribution of toolkits to TESDA graduates who completed vocational training in Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC I, Carpentry NC II, and Land Preparation, including Citizen Armed Force Geographical Unit (CAFGU) Active Auxiliary members, Friends Rescued, and their dependents.

The event was attended by Cabadbaran City Mayor Judy Chin-Amante; Brigadier General (BGen.) Arsenio DC Sadural, commander of the 901st Infantry Brigade; 9ID, Philippine Army duly represented by Lieutenant Colonel (LTC) Michel G. Mortejo, brigade executive officer;  LTC Mark S. Tabon, commanding officer of the 29th  Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army; LTC Ricky N. Baguio, commanding officer of the 544th Engineer Construction Battalion, Philippine Army represented by LTC Allain S. Fuentes, executive officer; Provincial Director Rey M. Cueva, TESDA Agusan del Norte; Engr. E Divinagracia, acting center administrator, TESDA Agusan del Norte;  and Alfredo E. Labarete, punong barangay of Del Pilar.

This project was funded by the LGU of Cabadbaran City, the 544th Engineer Construction Battalion served as the implementing unit and the 29th Infantry Battalion provided security throughout the project’s implementation. (544th Engineer Construction Battalion/PIA-Agusan del Sur)
